Battle of the Strikers (NOT CONTINUED)

Game 8 - Hucknall Heroes

Striker #1 - Blake Superstar

14/08/07 - Hucknall vs Stalybridge
Final Score: Hucknall 4-1 Stalybridge

Hucknall: Blake Superstar (34, 49, pen 80, 90)
Stalybridge: Michael Stringfellow (78)

Player Watch: Blake Superstar needed a big score if he wanted to overtake leader Brendon Hedger this round, and a big score was exactly what he got. Superstar's mysterious change in form has baffled supporters and players alike, but Superstar claims he was suffering a slight bout of flu which was previously affecting his performances. Superstar struck four goals in a magical display for his side which helped them beat Stalybridge in comfortable circumstances.

Points Earned: 84

Striker #2 - Brendon Hedger

13/08/07 - Hucknall vs Burscough
Final Score: Hucknall 3-3 Burscough

Hucknall: Brendon Hedger (9, 54, 73)
Burscough: Allan Smart (60, 80), Dave Roberts (84)

Player Watch: If anybody wanted to catch the free-kick master Hedger, it was not going to be easy, as shown again today with Hedger scoring yet another hat-trick as his team managed only a draw against Burscough. Hedger was pure class, nailing a hat-trick and dominating play in general, and it was a well earned Man of the Match award that Hedger received after the game. The free-kick master has still elected to remain at Hucknall, claiming that it shouldn't be too long before teams like Manchester United and Liverpool recognise his talent and bring him in to their side.

Points Earned: 55

Striker #3 - Troy Lerana

14/08/07 - Hucknall vs Harrogate
Final Score: Hucknall 5-4 Harrogate

Hucknall: Troy Lerana (14, 30, 77), Paul Dempsey (17), Gary Ricketts (90)
Harrogate: Danny Holland (57, pen 85), Gary Sucharewycz own goal (60), Nathan Peat (80)

Player Watch: The Legend finally came to town, scoring a superb hat-trick in his side's thrilling 5-4 victory over Harrogate Town. The match should've been out of doubt after Hucknall led 3-0 at halftime, but somehow a brilliant 4 goal second half from Harrogate nearly gave them the 3 points. In the end, Hucknall relied on a late 91st minute goal from Gary Ricketts to seal the deal. Troy Lerana was excellent for Hucknall, earning MOTM awards after scoring a hat-trick to keep him going strongly on the leaderboard. Lerana fought tirelessly and deserved the honours.

Points Earned: 58

Striker #4 - Shantanu Ambekar

13/08/07 - Hucknall vs Harrogate
Final Score: Hucknall 0-1 Harrogate

Hucknall:
Harrogate: Mark Hume (3)

Player Watch: Shantanu Ambekar has an estimated 2-3 months remaining on his hip injury.

Points Earned: 0

Striker #5 - Avroneel Biswas

13/08/07 - Hucknall vs AFC Telford
Final Score: Hucknall 2-1 AFC Telford

Hucknall:
Avroneel Biswas (53, 71)
AFC Telford: Matty Lewis (22)

Player Watch: In one of the more lower-scoring games we have seen so far throughout this competition, it was Biswas providing his team with victory after a brace after half-time in a superb comeback victory. Telford were looking all over Hucknall at half-time, but it was a brilliant fightback from the players and Biswas's superb finishing sealed it for his team. Biswas played very well in the second half and was rightfully Man of the Match for his efforts.

Points Earned: 37

Striker #6 - William Ako

13/08/07 - Hucknall vs Nuneaton
Final Score: Hucknall 1-1 Nuneaton

Hucknall: William Ako (23)
Nuneaton: Bradley Pritchard (31)

Player Watch: Wako Ako wasn't at his best today, and despite earning the Best on Ground honours, he still wouldn't be satisfied after scoring just one goal in his side's draw against Nuneaton. Hucknall went into the match as the underdogs, but in the end they still managed to scrape a draw which might not be considered a terrible result. William Ako was solid, scoring the first goal of the match, but he couldn't add to his tally throughout the remaining minutes which would've frustrated him and fans, as Nuneaton pulled one back to score the draw.

Points Earned: 27

Striker #7 - Stuart Cullington

13/08/07 - Southport vs Hucknall
Final Score: Southport 3-3 Hucknall

Southport: Neil Prince (22), Lucas Akins (60, 68)
Hucknall: Stuart Cullington (18, 90), Mick Galloway (63)

Player Watch: Culli was solid again, scoring a brace for his side including a crucial late goal which came in the 92nd minute to give his side a draw, but he couldn't find the elusive hat-trick to earn some more points. Before this round Culli was situated on the bottom, but now he definitely has a chance of moving up. Still, he needs some more big rounds if he wants to be a serious competitor in this challenge. However, considering Hucknall were away against big favourites Southport, a double from Culli and a draw was still an excellent result, it has to be said.

Points Earned: 34

blake, you are finding a lot of form. Are you going to add yourself to the transfer market. You make up too many excuses, flu? i don't think anyone will believe that.

Hedger I hope you are just joking around, and not really doubting that I would even consider the possibility of cheating.. :\

I doubt your cheating. I dont see the fun in cheating in something like this, it ruins all the fun. You arent cheating right?

Far out, that's the stupid part of playing in a competition you run. The second you start doing well everyone cries 'CHEAT CHEAT'.

I'm just going to lower my stats now until I am some D Grade striker and finish last, maybe that will shut you all up.

im not accusing you of cheating, im ahead of you, i just said you were finding some form. Anyway its good that i have some competition at the moment.

Lol mate, i didnt say you were cheating.

'I doubt your cheating.' That was what i said earlier on. :D

23 goals actually Hedger.

A possible update tomorrow. I have school resuming in two days so I might not have the time for a while.

My AFL story is still going right now, and that's taking top spot over this story for now, so the updates will be irregular. It also takes incredibly long to update and write up match reports.
