Best Atmosphere For Tests?

Lord's may be the home of cricket but there's nothing like playing in front of 90-100,000 screaming fans at the MCG on Boxing Day.

Yeh there is. Playing at the home of cricket, Lords cricket ground in an Ashes Test match and making a Hundred or taking a 5fer to get yourself on the famous Lords Honours Board. I'd much rather do that than play in front of 90'000 people at the MCG tbh. MCG would be 2nd on my list though, fantastic ground, just Lords is far more special for me.

From personal experience the atmosphere at Headingley is great especially if you're in the thick of it in the West Stand, that's where it's all at.

Chennai,Lords and MCG for me.Great venues which make even every second of Test cricket interesting .

My Living Room. 46" Widescreen HD TV. Nachos & Dip.

Lords. After that, Eden Gardens. None of you have ever visited Eden (English and Aussies), have you? I have. Twice. I would really request you guys to come and watch a match at Eden. The atmosphere's just fantastic. People shouting all the time, cheering for the home team, cracking silly but funny jokes about players, standing on chairs and waving their hands and jumping like a mad person whenever someone hits a four/six- it's in one word great. Perfect atmosphere for Tests. If you come to Eden, test cricket will look like T-20 cricket- such is the atmosphere.

What makes the MCG more special is that it is only exclusive to ONE test match per year, unlike Lords.

To add to that, there is nothing more satisfying in cricket then having 90,000 people on their feet, with their complete focus on you & applauding YOU.

TBH, I think allot of Internationals players would already have their names scratched onto a few wooden boards before their careers started anyway.

1. Lord's.
2. MCG.

There's daylight between those and the rest.

Eden Gardens with 100,000 people packed in is quite an atmosphere for test cricket as well. If you don`t believe me,just try and watch some of the footage from the 2001 India-Australia test series. The Eden Gardens is like a cauldron at times !

Yea Lee, I'll have to disagree with you on that one. The atmosphere in India can be unbelievable.

I'm English, though, and the English just don't 'get' Indian crowds. For an Indian Calcutta will be awesome but for an Englishman it is just a wall of noise.

Can you elaborate the reason ?
