Big Ant Studios post first look at Cricket game

Really, there are a lot of things that are more needed than something that's hardly going to affect how you play. It would be better if gameplay is given more focus than how the hell the 'crowd' looks.

Just wanted to ask this:

How much focus are you planning to put on gameplay elements? Is it going to be a secondary thought, or is it a main priority thing?

If you're asking me, then gameplay is first priority then comes the other visual eye candies.

The main focus is gameplay, but having said that, we have a lot of art and technology that we bring from previous titles and the art side of things, crowd, etc. which is done in parallel by the art team does not diminish the ability to deliver gameplay as they are separate teams.

For guys starting the need of crowd here is post from Ross earlier in the thread,
In Career mode, position on the ladder/group, finals, style of play etc.. will determine the crowd - it won't be always packed - this means $$ earned at the gate, sponsors and TV ratings so it does effect the management side of things. Play boring Cricket and no one will turn up and you will be in a spiral not being able to afford good players and traininng staff.

...No one needs to worry about time being wasted on coding it(they are just using up from other resources as he mentioned), and more - coding difficulty. Seriously, its their job to worry about those, ours is to give opinions and learn more about the game. Correct me if im wrong.

I agree. But I think both are important as they are complementary. Having one without the other is an unfinished product.

As for all the people saying "we need to make sure Ross knows what is important", give the guy a bit of respect. He's been dealing with making sports games for ages and im pretty sure the most common request of all sports gamers is to get a 'realistic' game. Plus, you'd expect him to be trawling these forums and to have done his research on what the community want,

So instead of getting all hot under the collar and demanding to know what the gameplay will be like, how about taking some chill pills and actually reading the previous comments on the forum. Most of the questions that you are repeatedly asking have already been answered, especially to do with gameplay vs. 'eye candy'. We know BigAnt are transferri cosmetic stuff from past games into this title with minimal impact on their efforts to maximize gameplay. End of story.

Yeah, remember this is not 'just' another game for him. He says it is his 'pet' project and there are people who actually play/know about Cricket who are developing it!

I was actually talking about PC requirements. BTW, how about if for e.g. a star player is played like Afridi in Pakistan matches, Dhoni/Tendulkar in India matches and etc; the stadium has more people if compared when these players are not playing?

----------

And how about crowd filling in when their team is winning or the crowd going when their team is losing?

----------

And BTW, try to have different type of crowds. For e.g. mostly shalwar kameez wearing crowd in Pakistan, UAE and t-shirts etc for most of the crowd in Australia, South Africa etc. Type of crowds can also depend on the teams playing the match. However, keep a percentage of the crowd generic which will appear in every stadia.

@BigAntStudios
If I could get a yes or no to ^?

I will get PC specs for you soon from a tech - I know it currently runs on Windows XP but I don't think we will be supporting it (this might give you an idea of the spec, it's pretty low).

Crowd will come and go (and boo! etc...)

We haven't introduced particular crowd clothes other than colour.

So, is it on a level of Cricket Revolution, Cricket 07 or Ashes Cricket 09 in terms of specs? I am guessing its someway between Cricket 07 and AC09 but more towards Cricket 07.

Will the crowds be editable? I mean like for example, I want to change the 3d model and graphic to my liking, can I do it?

Plus, will there be some different spectators for matches like Chacha Cricket for Pakistan and that naked body painted guy with an Indian flag in hand for India etc?

You mean minimum spec right? Or does it mean the game is low on the graphics part? Or rather just the engine performs really well?

2 questions please if answered i will be loving this thank you.
Will it have domestic teams like IPL BBL BPL?
In career mode will there be transfer players thing?

WoW man  can you please use your energy on something which is important? like GAMEPLAY????

welcome to PC Mr.ross
I am so delighted to see representatives actively participating interaction with fans.
My question is
1. Can we play every shot that a batsman play in reality ? I mean it feels so satisfying to play reverse sweep when a bowler kept fielding leg side and bowling on legs. Can we manually adjust direction of ball or do you follow new system?

2.Can we see more asian stadiums ?

Just wanted to say, best of luck for this title and hope you have a profitable series. One piece of advice that I can give that you may not know is that what people 'suggest' and what they 'want' are often two different things considering general responses to various titles over the years. If this is something common to all sports games, then I'd be willing to bet you know this already but there is a chance that this is unique to cricket games.

I would also suggest sending pre-release copies to some trusted moderators (or maybe that should be admins) of this forum to see if there are any glaring errors (like the bowling speed nonsense of B.L.I.C. or the over-reliance on certain shots) which could be fixed with not too much issue.
