Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

For the dead rubber, if Australia and India are smart they would do massive swap outs as a trial.

Wade for Keeper
Watson at 3, Marsh out.

The ONLY reason why the test finished so early was because of Warner's fast century. If that lasted longer then we would still be watching Australia bowl.

Many more groundsmen across the country will be facing that problem too. Warner's aggressiveness means bums on seats but he will accelerate the course of the game thus resulting in games not going the distance.

I think this is a minor point but very important to note: Dhoni played without a third man for almost the entire series, and on these hard bouncy pitches, I can bet that the number of boundaries that went to third man from the Australian batsmen would be in the region of almost 200 runs aggregate or even more. That's a lot.

More generally, M.S.Dhoni as a captain is a failure in Test cricket. He is not a good reader of the game, unlike Sourav Ganguly, and his batting is contributing to his overall failure as a captain. He not only makes bad field placements but also has the wrong fielders in the specialist positions. Having fast bowlers man coverpoint and non-specialists like Kohli fielding at slips is just unforgivable.

I would back even Virender Sehwag as captain, but of course, his form isn't too hot either. But I think Sehwag has a better head on his shoulders for Test cricket, especially strategically. Sourav wasn't always batting like a giant when he was captain, but his captaincy was positive and aggressive.

Anyway, just wanted to vent on India's pathetic performance.

Isn't it amazing how the opposition always discovers and uncovers great talents when playing against the Indian team and how players making a career comeback always find it good to play against India in a series especially when India is playing away from home?

Today the one-day team will be announced. Looks like Harbhajan might comeback. Also I think Praveen, Irfan might be called up.

Go get 'em Bhajji :D

Massive swaps for me would be Ponting and/or Hussey being rested too. Definitely think Wade should come in, but throwing Watson in for a dead rubber under an injury cloud when the next test series against the Windies is months away isn't the best idea.

A lot of positives for India

Scored more runs in the 2nd innings than the 1st innings
Survived 3 more overs than the 1st innings
Lost by a smaller margin than the previous test
Highest opening partnership of the series so far - 24
Match over in 3 days... So more rest for players, they need to keep themselves fresh and fit for the important tournament ahead, the IPL.

Dhoni banned for one test match (slow over-rate). Now India really should be winning the Adelaide test.

Now that's the best news I've heard in relation to this Test series up to now.

Maybe tie the Australians feet together to give India a chance? Even then Sehwank would still fail because he has the technique of a dying fish out of water.

I am seriously loving the karma here which is getting India back for all the trash-talk by their fans. It happened before England and it has happened again in Aus. When will modesty be learnt?

Eng, SA, Aus, Pak/SL, Ind, NZ/WI, Bang/Zim

Reckon that is a pretty accurate reading for teams in tests when the match is outside of India and the pitch is not trying to rival a motorway

WOW...... What a Win.... Couldnt expect such one-sided results but oh well... Its always tough to perform in Australia

Ban David Warner, not MS Dhoni. ICC must realize that we have lot of oldies who will take time to bring the ball back from the boundary ropes. Warner should have planned his innings better! :p

WHAT? Slow overate? You can get banned from that?

Also, C'mon... Slow over rates SHOULD not exist when the match finishes inside 3 days. It should only be applied if it reaches 5 days.

You can't blame Dhoni for the slow over rates they had to find the ball every time Warner hit it...
