Brazil 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread

I believe England should have taken someone like Butland , someone very young with good potential , as the 3rd GK. Anyway the 3rd GK wont get any playing time at the WC , so why not take someone young and give the guy some experience.

Samir Nasri misses out on France's 2014 World Cup squad - ESPN FC

Poor Nasri. But i guess the have a strong squad anyway, just need to show it.

Giorgio Chiellini, Giuseppe Rossi included in Italy World Cup squad - ESPN FC

Fernando Torres, Juan Mata in provisional Spain World Cup squad - ESPN FC

Surprised that Torres was even in this provisional squad & that Diego Lopez wasn't at least considered at this point. Harsh on Isco too:

Drogba and Toure brothers head Ivory Coast squad - ESPN FC

Last chance for the best African team to shine at a world cup, some players are passed their peak - but a potential XI below could potentially go far. They should n't be fazed by the heat in Brazil:

--------------------------Copa-------------------

Eboue-----------Zokora--------K Toure--------Aurier

Kalou------------Y Toure--------Tiote-------Gervinho

-----------------Bony----------Drogba-----------------

BBC Sport - World Cup 2014: Radamel Falcao selected in Colombia's squad

BBC Sport - Cristiano Ronaldo selected in provisional Portugal squad

Good to see Quaresma back in that national set-up.

BBC Sport - World Cup 2014: Arturo Vidal included in Chile squad

England saw a glimpse of what Chile can do @ Wembley last year & i reckon they are a serious dark horse to get very far in Brazil given the conditions. Backing them to pip Holland & get out of their group.

Sissoko ahead of Schneiderlin... I guess they play different positions, but that shows you just how underrated Schneiderlin is. Sissoko is so average.

Eboue's not in the Ivory Coast squad btw. It will be Aurier at RB, big opportunity for him before his Arsenal move. Boka will play at LB.

QUARESMA IN THE NATIONAL SQUAD!?!?!?!? I think I just creamed myself. I love watching the guy play. The definition of flair on his day.

Good to see Juanfran pip Arbeloa. He's an amazing RB.

I think Remy Cabella should have been given a chance to show what he can do for France in Rio. Keeping tabs on Antoine Griezmann as well, he's an exciting talent although I'm not sure why Nasri's form doesn't merit him an automatic spot in the squad.

Politics.

Cabella is certainly a fine player, would have him ahead of Sissoko as there are enough B2Bs in the team already. There are quite a few up and coming players unlucky to miss out, Kondogbia is another.
