Challenging times for the Australians

Their next 3 tours are:

India (away), South Africa (home) and then the Ashes in England.

They have had huge changes of late, they won in West Indies, convincingly so. But it would be fair to say it isn't going to be any comparison to the above 3 series/tours. I am slightly confident ahead of next years Ashes contest. Their bowling looks weak, they have Lee and Clark. Bracken doesn't do Tests (iirc). No spinner will ever replace Warne, MacGill retired and I think they should go for McGain, he is 36, but he has only started playing so age shouldn't be as much a factor.

I am hooked on how the next year will be for Australia. It would take a brave man to say they will fail the challenge, it will take 11 braver men to win that challenge.

Exciting period in the history of modern Cricket.

I am right in thinking they only have home tests vs South Africa next summer, aren't I? It seemed that way on the Future tours bit of the CricInfo site.

You missed NZ

Seems like the tour of Pakistan is going to have to slot in for May 09 as well.

I agree. I don't know who Australia will look to to get wickets other than Lee and Warne. We have no recognised spinner in our line up and we will see Clarke and Symonds forced into bowling more overs than they would like. This will be a tough period for Australia, and the sooner we find a quality spinner the better it will be for Australian Cricket. Here's hoping Beau Casson can develop into a good Test bowler and Nathan Hauritz a good One Day International bowler. In my opinoin they are the two best spinners in Australia for Test and One Day Cricket. Dan Cullen, however, is probably the best all round spinner, across both Test matches and One Day matches.

Both Clarke and Symonds have injury problems that do hamper their bowling. Clarke I believe has back problems and we all know that Simmo's arm (all though he still fires in throws faster then anyone in International cricket) is not 100%.

Actually, I think Symonds' arm is fine, the biceps injury hardly kept him out at all. It's his back that has been putting him out of action of late. It's fairly safe to say any cricketer has to be careful not to hurt their back.

We certainly are going to need our bowlers to step up and our batters to continue how they have been going. McGain definitely should tour along with Casson. Johnson needs to go though, he hasn't been effective and we can't carry him and a spinner.

I think they are still good enough though all the Future tours won't be easy run for them.
But Still I think Lee and Clark are good enough and can destroy any batting line up same way Batting Collapse has never been problem for Aussis..
Regarding to Ashes My money again on England though.

batting collapse never been a problem

last series against westindies and india they had so many batting collapse
and it took umpiring errors for them to get back and with the new appeals
system it is going to be hard,

clark is not good enough on flat tracks specially in subcontinent,he depend son seam movement and when their is no seam movement he is
not a dangerous bowler as he lacks pace.

Still Either Hussey or M Clark have took care of rest of the innings.
I did not mean Collapse like 76 for 6 but when they make 220 after 76 for 6,I don't count that collapse.

You dont know what you're talking about. That means Macgrath was bad on flat pitches. Clark doesnt swing it a whole lot either.

it was in odis while batting first but when chasing they would not save the ship,

in tests their collapse have been saved by umpiring errors.

have you watched clark in bangladesh?he was medicore.

why people always compare mcgrath with clark is beyond me,mcgrath
was quicker atleast in early days, had a good bouncer, yorker and most
of all a deadly mind thats why he was a legend no matter where he played

No i didnt but when you have a average of 20 in bowling i would seriously doubt it if you told me he had a poor series.

lol..
Actually Clarke has played only 18 test matches and He has not played even a single test match in Subcontinent.
How can you estimate his capabilites in test cricket in Subcontinent?

Don't care about ODIs or T20,I mean Pure test cricket.

MGGrath has been Versatile even in Sub continent.
He has taken 72 wickets in just 19 matches in Sub continent with average of 23 and trust me that is amazing as far as We are talking about flat Pitches.

I predict defeat in India, a narrow victory over South Africa and a tied series with England. Nice and balanced. A series against the hostile Indians on their own turf I think will be too much for this declining team. Home advantage will be the only thing that allows them to sneak a win over the Proteas, which I believe will be their last win against them for some time. In The Ashes both sides will be pumped up and there will be nothing to choose between them.
