Challenging times for the Australians

I think they will manage to Draw series with India, and loose to Safricans, and win over England, and again loose to Pakistan (lmao,).

I think August will be the most challenging month for the Aussies as they will be taking on the giant killers...:D

England 5-(-) 2 Australia

You heard it hear first. Also, don't pay attention to a thing Cricket God posts.

Australia may have lost a few good bowlers but our batting is still as strong. Langer, Gilchrist and Martyn are big losses to the team but they will be replaced (Jaques has shown he has can do the job). So this is what I think should be the line-up for the up-coming tests:

1) Jaques
2) Hayden/Katich/Rogers (If Jaques or Hayden is injured)
3) Ponting (c)
4) Clarke
5) Hussey
6) Symonds
7) Haddin (wk)
8) Lee
9) Johnson
10) Casson
11) Clark

The spin is the main whole in the line-up, but Australia must stick with Casson and give him a chance before we toss him aside in the "never picked again" category.

It will be tough but I think we can grind out some results. Our wins might not be as pretty as they were in the past but we still win games and series, just not as convincing.

I think they'll either lose or scrape a draw against India. Don't see them winning without a good spinner. I believe they should win against the Saffies at home. The Ashes will be very close again in my opinion like in 2005. The spin department could be the area were England get an advantage due to Monty. Just look at Warnes figures against England he'll be missed. I can't pick a winner from the Ashes. If England turn up which they obviously didn't in the last Ashes It'll be a good series.

I predict defeat in India, a narrow victory over South Africa and a tied series with England. Nice and balanced. A series against the hostile Indians on their own turf I think will be too much for this declining team. Home advantage will be the only thing that allows them to sneak a win over the Proteas, which I believe will be their last win against them for some time. In The Ashes both sides will be pumped up and there will be nothing to choose between them.
Our batsmen will laugh in your faces if you play Pattinson, I can tell you that much.

I think that you're really taking it too far by saying that it will be our last win for a while. We are still a pretty decent outfit, our bowling lineup may not be as good as it was, but I have no doubt that we have the depth to cover it. Guys like Bollinger, Siddle and even Hilfenhaus despite his recent lack of form will all be great bowlers in the future when given the chance.

I think they should go for McGain, he is 36, but he has only started playing so age shouldn't be as much a factor.
It's not that he just started, he's been playing cricket for years, he's just only become a regular fixture for Victoria recently.

Siddle needs to get fit if he is going to play for Australia. Hilfy needs to stop where he started, maybe its just a bit of bad form. Bollinger needs to keep it up to be in the Australian outfit. Also isnt Darren Pattinson Aussie?

Theres much more stress on your body when you've been playing State cricket for half your life unlike Mcgain so hes alright.

I very much doubt Pattinson will be playing in the 3rd Test of this series, let alone the Ashes next year!

I said it will be your last win for a while against South Africa. I believe they will soon be the world's best team. They have all the credentials, and when they are dominating, they have an Australian aura about them.

Whatever happens, these are some tasty series coming up for the Aussies.

OK, but I don't really see it:

McKenzie v Jaques - I'd say Jaques
Smith v Hayden - Hayden currently
Kallis v Ponting - Ponting
Amla v Hussey - Hussey definitely
Prince v Clarke - I'd say Clarke, though it's quite close
de Villiers v Symonds - de Villiers probably
Boucher v Haddin - Boucher
Morkel v Johnson - Morkel
Harris v Casson - Harris
Ntini v Lee - Lee
Steyn v Clark - both are great bowlers, Steyn in the long term but currently it's even I'd say.

Australia's batting lineup is most certainly better, and their bowling lineup is only slightly weaker.

I'm predicting we'll win the next Ashes quite comfortably. England will probably dominate us in the first test but end up ruining their good work and we'll steal a draw. We'll then win the next 3 games before England win the final Test as a constilation prize.

However, I think we'll lose in India and South Africa but win the home series.

I'd love it if Australia won in India.

Not gonna happen mate unless Australia shed those two dead weights in their bowling attack.

manee added 1 Minutes and 50 Seconds later...

Steyn, Morkel, Ntini and hopefully Nel in Australia against Australia is destined to be something special. Steyn seriously needs to sort his issue against left handers before attempting to take on Hayden though.

It'd be a fool who writes off Australia. They have this nasty habit of proving doubters wrong.

You honestly think that a four man Australian attack which contains Casson and Johnson can topple India? Australia's main hope is that the BCCI bows to ICC demand and creates 'sporting' (ie. seaming) wickets and as everyone loves to repeat every three seconds on this forum, the BCCI pwns (whatever the hell that means) ICC.:p
