Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

Phil you should know better than to dismiss me as ABU judging by how fair i've been to United throughout the season. I genuinely think that the Terry spitting incident is a classic case of the press making a mountain out of a molehill. It clearly looks like an accident to me and Tevez himself doesn't react angrily. If Terry was intentionally trying to spit at him there would be more of a lunge forward with the head; just look at how Diouf the master does it. Come on, it's easy to make a big deal out of things like this when it happens against your team but you know for an absolute fact that if it was a United player that did what Terry did then you'd be defending him just as vivaciously as i'm defending John Terry.

Funniest thing I've seen in a long time bruv yeah:

hahahahahaha...that was amazing...ermmmm...YH:rolleyes:

i didn't notice that either JT spitting on tevez...disgraceful behaviour...and i don't have a clue why tevez got a yellow...he was backing away all the time and still got a yellow for nothin

Fair enough, your posts during the match were quite anti-United, not sure if it was sarcasm as well though:p. If a United player spat at a Chelsea player then I wouldn't defend it. The media haven't made a mountain out of a molehill really. I've seen nothing about it on TV, someone texted into the show after 606 last night to say about it and they quickly moved on. Fair enough if thats your opinion about it not being deliberate, but I'm more worried about how you still thought he was England captain material before you saw the video and after being told about him spitting.

I don't think he's England captain material lol. I just said he was more so than Rio. Far worse than his spitting is his absolutely disgraceful treatment of referees.

To carry on with my bumming of Gareth Barry, he's the perfectest of perfect England captain. He doesn't make any mistakes 99.9% of the time, he doesn't rape referees, his pass completion rate is absolutely superb and of course, his surname rhymes with his first name.

And I was being very anti-united last night but I had good reason! One of my mates is a right jew of a united fan and he's done nothing more today than gloat and gloat. It's amazing how many mancs there are in a Liverpool based college. Dirty mancs.

I've got nothing against mancs, just the mancs who are from Liverpool.

Plus you have to admit, Pat Lampard is a milf...

Risque:p

Fair enough though, I'd have a similar thing for Scousers in Manchester, there's a couple in our school, fair to say they were the focus of the taunting today as well as one Chelski fan.

They were talking about Grant on the radio and pointed out that he only lost two games as Chelsea manager (in normal time). Away to Arsenal and against Barnsley in the cup. Pretty impressive record really!

Yeah, the stick he's been given off Chelsea fans is unbelievable to be honest, and its all only because he's not Mourinho! The next manager in will be welcomed. He's done a great job, when he came and with the ACN in the winter I didn't think they'd be in the title race. Very harshly treated imo.

Even if I wasn't a Utd fan, I still would've wanted Chelsea to lose that final, after the shabby way they've treated Avram Grant. He has done a great job for them, come very close to securing a Premiership/CL double and deserves better treatment from the club. If they're thinking of 'moving him upstairs', I hope he tells them where to stick it and moves on to a club that will treat him with some respect! The facts speak for themselves, he's done a wonderful job and Chelsea should keep hold of him. Is it true they're after Mancini? He's bloody terrible in Europe!

First of all, I would like to congratulate United and their fans. As much as I hate them, have to admit that they've been the best team in England and Europe this season.

Secondly, I dont think Chelsea have treated Avram Grant poorly. He has done well no doubt in terms of results, but not sure how much of a role he actually played in resurrecting the season and the team after Mourinho's exit. End of the day, Chelsea need to think long term, and hence need someone with a decent amount of experience to be able to handle a squad of superstars. However what Chelsea need to do is find that manager and stick with him, which is what should have been done with Mourinho in the first place. Lets face it, Grant just took over what Mourinho had built.

Not too sure about Mancini. Yes he can and has handled another star studded team in Inter Milan, but his style of football is even more defensive than Mourinho's and if I remember correctly, RA, dint like that. And Inter's poor record in Europe doesnt have anything to do with Mancini. They have always underachieved in Europe, its almost like their bogey competition. End of the day, he did win two consecutive domestic league titles for the club, which according to me is the most important thing.

But the good thing about Chelsea is that really started playing well towards the final third of the season, and can hence look forward to keeping that up going into next season.

As far as England goes, no one in the current team would make a good captain (apart from maybe Ferdinand). Rooney still isnt calm enough to lead, and although I admire his talent, needs to do a lot more to be captain. End of the day, England are an average at best side, and have players who are awesome for their clubs, but are pretty useless when it comes to playing for their country.

Back onto the Terry issue for the moment:

He's got previous as well as Rio.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/1558855.stm

As well as when he allegedly was racist to Ledley King last year. There was no physical offence from Terry and he didn't complain about being sent off...

Yet still, Terry is portrayed in the media's eyes as being "inspirational, heartbeat, heart on sleeve", while Rio, who has matured so much, isn't.

Braaaaaaaaaaaap.

Im a united fan but come on phil stop making it out like the media love terry when its not the case. Sadly the fact england are crap at football means that it is unlikely we'll get a good captain. The final is over and move on from having a go at players.

Martin Tyler before he took the pen the other day, something similar to "here steps forward, Mr Chelsea". Or him being constantly referred to as Iron Man, or Bionic Man. There is a serious media love in.

He is the captain of chelsea and loyal to the club so yes he can be considered mr chelsea. Also he got booted in the face and game back to the game afterwards, also dislocated his elbow and was fit in 2 weeks. I think the media claims are justified.
