Champions League Twenty20 2011

Both the matches today are under rain threat. Now its 2pm. At 11 a.m itself it was raining. Now rains have stopped. Decent sunshine. But you never know when it might start pouring all of a sudden...:D

In somerset there are 4 overseas player

Murali Karthik
Van der Merwe
Thomas (captain)
Dockrell

Well, Dockrell is not an overseas, he's just a Kolpak member so it doesn't come under overseas. If you his records, it tells clearly that he has not got much experience. Thomas is either a Kolpak member but you see he never played one-day for tests. And I'm pretty sure that he's not an overseas.

Every English team gets to pick a couple of t20 players and obviously you see Karthik has not played cricket for India for maybe three years but you see Indian sides (IPL) they got a better overseas, like Kallis ; ten Doeschate ; Vettori.

But playing five overseas for a side is just rubbish, as I said It looks like the Indian sides haven't got certain domestic players.

Secondly, this is a Champions League. Have it in England, Australia, NZL. Why only in India ???

Exactly, perhaps because it's been control BCCI, they want this only in India.

lol...

Thomas is leading bowler of Pune IPL team. Murali Karthik played almost all matches for KKR in season 1-2 and he plays for PUNE IPL team also now.

When Rajasthan Picked Shane Watson, he was not in International side and then he performed in IPL and got place in Aus Side. Now he is star, so IPL team should not picked him.

Only Mumbai Indians is playing 5 five players not all. Ya Maybe u r right we don't have many domestic players as we don't steal players from south africa, ireland like england does. (lol)

I doubt whether ppl still watch domestic matches. Irani trophy is currently going on, but ppl are hooked onto the CLT20.

Thats why IPL is important as indian people get to know about young indian players.

I think BCCI should shorten IPL to 30 Days tournament and have domestic test series.

Best Ranji Players VS India Team

or you could say Future India VS Present India.

This series will be much better than Having series against bangladesh or west indies. The guy who performs in this series, should be pick for India Team (present india). If future india is able to beat present india, then play future india against team like bangladesh or zimbabawe.

This way Indian domestic cricketer will know how to get in test side. Right we now that if someone performs in IPL gets picked for India ODI team or t20 team.

Yes, Thomas is the leading bowler of Pune.:rolleyes

Thomas and Dockrell are Kolpak players. And do the English sides field greats like Kallis, Ponting?:rolleyes

You think Watson achieved success due to IPL? If you do, you're a real fool.

You're comparing MI to England?:lol

IPL teams steal 10 overseas players, where as England as of now uses only 5 overseas players I think. And several migrated to England at a very young age. They got cricket at England, not South Africa. Only a few switched to England. Don't forget that.

KKR needs a big win here to stay in contention. Gambhir looks promising again. More than KKR's fortunes, I am interested in seeing Gambhir come back into full touch. We need him more than anyone else for the Aussie tour.

MI had 22 Players out of which 7-8 domestic player are injured. (5 batsman 2 bowler)

If u think i am comparing MI with england then you are a fool man.

About watson:

i saw him saying how IPL helped him to announce himself at Big Stage. Before IPL he used to get injured and was not even part of Australian side. I still remember During IPL FIrst Edition there was Australia VS west indies and he was not picked. But he had superb IPL and just after IPL he was picked for Aus Side.

I believe Eoin Morgan was not switched to england at early age (Even Kevin Pietersen)

Foxes did have Razzaq who is quite comparable with kallis in t20 format (i hope u don't compare him with kallis in Test cricket or ODI as we are talking about t20 :lol) as he bowls 4 overs and bats well also.

Kolpak or not, they are overseas players. English sides are actually allowed to have unlimited overseas players, due to that loophole. Of course, it's not relevant to whether MI should be allowed to break the rules of their own comp, especially while they have a non-overseas player sitting in the dugout.

They should have a T5 (5 overs each ) . That way every team (including the abandoned match) today would have had a fair chance.

KKR now has to hope for other results to go their way. If Somerset win an additional game, KKR are out (already Warriors have a higher NRR than KKR with one more game to go). Ideally, Somerset should lose to both RCB and Warriors, South Australia lose their final game and RCB dont win more than one game (or if RCB wins both games, they dont win convincingly enough to pip KKR's NRR). Next to impossible, I would say!

Looks like tomorrow's games in Chennai could also be rain affected. Not good for the tournament.

Or they could even play in a neutral country like UAE-would really like to have cricket back in Sharjah.:yes

Comparing with ability Razzaq is not like a Kallis.

Only 2 players switched to England at a late age. The others all learnt cricket on English soil.

Ed Joyce is another one. he switched to england and when england doesn't needed him he gone back to Ireland.

and dockrell will be latest one which will be going i think.. During world cup Ian Botham said that dockrell should play for us.

razzaq is as effective as kallis in t20 cricket.

Razzaq t20 Career

Runs: 1815
Avg: 28.80
Strike Rate: 142.35
Wickets: 102
Bowl Avg: 20.73
Economy: 7.41

Kallis t20 Career:

Runs: 2625
Avg: 36.45
Strike Rate: 114.52
Wickets: 46
Bowl Avg: 38.04
Economy: 7.90

So the record clearly shows Razzaq and kallis are quite comparable in t20. Kallis has better avg where as Razzaq has better strike Rate. In bowling Razzaq is better than kallis.

How can you compare their batting. Razzaq usually bats at lower middle order where as Kallis opens the innings in t20s so their batting averages are understandable.

thats why kallis average is better and razzaq strike rate is better.

Razzaq open for Foxes in 1 clt20 match and scored 70 runs in 40 balls. Kallis and razzaq plays differently but both have same impact on the game.

Razzaq bowling is better than kallis, he was pakistan opening bowler last year.
