Champions League Twenty20 2011

How good was the move to pick Gayle during the IPL when no team was interested in him? He's brought them here single handed.

So in two matches in a row, an IPL side beats an Australian side. Well done RCB! But frankly, it was a very boring game as runs were splattered all around by both the batting sides which didnt make for exciting viewing. It was a canter by RCB to the target. I am hoping that the next two games in Chennai are not as run feasts (batting second in Chennai is always tough).

If MI somehow make it past Somerset, we could have an all IPL CLT20 final. Will be great to watch!

:cheersRoyal Challengers are always awesome:cheers!

Chasing 200 + in any wicket is not easy. RCB batsman has somewhat struggle against Fast Swinging yorker and If they faced MI in final then i won't be surprise if malinga knocks over 2-3 batsman with his yorker.

Kohli seems to be getting better and better.

England here we come :p

No. India already came to England and got hammered 4-0, 3-0 and 1-0. Surely not again?

The only two matches, if I might point out. Its still 8-2 in favor of the Australian sides. Good news for IPL though is that they have more wins (22) than losses (21) for a change in the competition's history now.

With Gayle, nothing is safe :noway Despite, of Kohlis. recent form, i will still say, RCB is all about Gayle.

It's not all about Gayle. It's about their top 3. After that they are pretty thin in batting. So if even one of their top 3 contributes, they reach to a good score.

Seriously?

Seriously, I feel RCB doesn't have any bowling! They're in a position- just like how India were in World Cup.
RCB are like- bowl first, know the target, and score it, whatever big it is.

RCB is missing Zaheer Khan and AB de Villiers a lot- everything is clearly seen!

Exactly, and the other day against SA, I predicted the fall of wickets in Tait's over. No one in RCB (those domestic players) have faced such a raw pace on these kind of tracks. The sixteenth over from Lyon went for just 4 runs, which messed the things up- else, it would have been a 19th over victory for us even in that match!

Wonder how this RCB side has already achieved so much success (2 consecutive finals in the IPL & CL), compared to the one that boasted Kohli, KP, Morgan, Taylor, Kallis, Kumble and Steyn. They seemed invincible, not this RCB side.

Just so you all know, its surprisingly cool out here in Chennai and it might well start raining soon. Though the weather forecast suggests there's only a 20% chance of precipitation.

I don't think it'll rain. After all, this is daily Chennai weather.:p

Cricket is not played on the paper mate. Looking at your comments i can gurantee you have not played many competitive cricket matches in ur life.

Somerset and MI both have reached semi-final which was unexpected at the start of tournament.

Shall we just restrict this to Twenty20 cricket? 'Cause I'm pretty sure the other formats are all well played 'on the paper'. And yeah, I haven't yet played a World Cup or a Champions League for the record. :rolleyes

@Bevab: Obviously, the sun's back again. :p

Unsure on Mumbai, but I bet my life that Somerset would atleast make the semis.
I tipped NSW, CSK, Somerset and the Redbacks to be the four semifinalists, but oh well.

Well done to Warner for his back to back centuries but both innings really must be put in context as with those of Kohli, Gayle etc. the bowling was absolutely disgraceful just littered with half volleys and full tosses on a piece of mud.

Let me show you few interesting stats, which you too know.

Phase 1 (IPL 1,2 and 3):

IPL I- 7th
IPL II- 2nd; CLT20- Stage equal to Super 8
IPL III- 3rd; CLT20- Semi Finals.
----------
IPL IV- 2nd;CLT20- Finals (As of now, the final is tomorrow)

See, the first season was a definite nightmare for us. Everything was messed up, Mallaya managed the team while buying.

But starting from second season, we formed as a team and got clear picture on what is going on. CLT20 was like a show off tournament, not just for us, but for every IPL team.

We lost to a man called Kieron Pollard in IPL 2010 Semies and managed to stand third by defeating Deccan 'injured' Chargers cheaply. In the Champions League T20 2010, Semi Final was messed up due to injury of Steyn while the match was in progress, and his absence at right time costed us the match.

Basically, they were a strong side, but destruction happened in seconds, which costed us title once and final spot twice.

Competitive cricket doesn't mean playing world cup or champions league it means where others (crowds) are watching ur cricket and you have to put up ur best so when u go off the field people can Say "Well Played and you have valued my time". A player gets this type of cricket from his school to college.

To be frank, i was expecting you will answer something like this because you think cricket is paper game.

if cricket was a paper game then Somerset would have been t20 england champion not Foxes.

whether it is t20 or ODI, cricket is not a paper game. if it was Then How could england lose to Ireland, bangladesh and tied with india and defeated SA.

Well i have betted Mumbai will win this competition before tournament started in this thread only.
