Finally Aston Villa have bagged their first win of the season with a convincing win over newcomers Reading . Former West ham players Marlon Harewood and Nigel Reo-Coker scored goals in the space of 7 minutes just before half time which ensured the home side all three points .

Bolton had to fight hard to win against Man City who were crushed by Chelsea last match . Matthew Taylor scored his first Bolton goal and soon Elano equalized . But just after the hour mark Kevin Davies headed in and grabbed all three points .

Charlton would be happy to take one point from the match which was well dominated by Everton . While Everton would be disappointed that they lacked concentration when needed . Mikel Arteta scored just after half time from a brilliant freekick and 10 minutes before the stop of the game Matt Holland equalized .

The match of the weekend saw two big rivals fight against each other . United had just started their new season with winning 2 games in a row while Arsenal had made a good start to the season . As expected there was a lot of drama in the match . Just after half time Robin Van Persie had to be stretched of the field due to a challenge on him by Patrice Evra . Cristiano Ronaldo saw his freekick from 30 yards saved by Almunia . But it was Emmanuel Adebayor who headed in the first goal of the match from a Fabregas corner . And just before the end of normal time new signing Samir Nasri scored his first ever goal for Arsenal with a lovely finish pass Van Der Sar and sealed the game for Gunners .

Liverpool were made to work very hard to earn all three points from this fixture . Sheffield United took the lead through a great strike from James Beattie . But 2 goals in 3 minutes by Liverpool completely destroyed Sheffield . Drogba scored the first Liverpool goal from a Gerrard corner and soon later Gerrard smashed an unstoppable freekick to ensure the Reds take all three points and stay on the top of the table .
Watford 3-2 Blackburn Rovers

Watford's dream start in the premiership continued as they beat Rovers at home . New signing Duncan Ferguson scored twice within ten minutes to given Watford a great lead . But Morten Gamst Pedersen hit an outstanding freekick to make 3 goals within ten minutes . But Watford suffered a flow when Duncan Fergusen landed on his hand and was taken off . Doyley scored for Watford and the home side were 3-1 up at HT . But a late own goal by Danny Shittu gave the Rovers some hope but it was of no use and Watford at the end defended well .

Dean Ashton making his first start of the season scored a brilliant header from a corner . But Kovalchuk equalized and soon later new signing Paintsil scored against his former club . But stoppage time goals from Ashton and Bellamy secured all three points for the home side .

Damien Duff scored his first goal of the season from an Barton corner but soon late Japan Internation and new signing of Wigan Motoyama scored and equalised . But Damien Duff scored again just after half time before Martins secured all three points from a brilliant over head kick .

Spurs aweful form of the new season continued as Pompey beat them 2-0 at White Hart Lane . Two second half goals by Papa Diop secured all three points for the visitors , while Spurs are in deep trouble as they are at the bottom of the league .
Chelsea have been drawn with Championship side Leicester City in the Carling Cup Third Round.

It is gonna be an easy home tie for Chelsea . Luis Scolari would use this fixture to rotate his squad and also rest some players for this fixture . Here is what Peter Kenyon had to say

(Robinho's brilliant strike secures a derby win for Chelsea)
It was the London Derby between Fulham and Chelsea taking place at Craven Cottage . Looking at the previous records of the two clubs in this derby Chelsea have been the dominating side and would hope they win this one easily .
Scolari made two changes to the side that drew against Middlesbrough . Michael Essien came back from injury to replace Michale Ballack and Robinho to came in to replace Nicolas Anelka . Chelsea went with a 4-1-3-2 formation .
Goalkick to Fulham Niemi hits the ball in the oppositions half headed down by Erik Nevland towards Simon Davies and he takes the shot but is blocked by John Terry and goes out for a corner . Smertin takes the corner a great delivery , brilliant header by Kovalchuk but well saved by Cech .
Bosingwa passes the ball to Robinho , he dodges and runs pass Konchesky and does a bit of trickery . But as he beats Koncehsky he fouled by Smertin . A very poor challenge from behind . Referre comes running and he is off . Smertin has been shown the direct red card . Fulham down to ten men .
Thrown in for Chelsea . Ashley Cole throws it towards Lampard , Lampard puts a first touch pass to Kaka and Kaka smashes it , and the ball bounces just infront of Niemi and is in the goal . Kaka scores his 5th goal of the league as Chelsea take the lead .
Chelsea dominate the second half completely . Lampard gets a great pass from Essien , Lampard runs and passes to Shevchenko who shoots from 25 yards but Niemi makes an easy save.
Fulham go on the attack . Substitute Colin John heads the cross from Hughes but it brilliantly held by the best keeper Petr Cech .
Chelsea make their subsitutions as Ballack , Anelka and Belletti come on for Essien , Shevchenko and Bosingwa . Freekick to Fulham , Zoltan Gera puts a brilliant delivery and Kovalchuk rises for the header and misses the ball and lands awkwardly on his hands . Looks like he is injured and is stretched off the field as Fulham has no more substitutes remaining .
Chelsea counter attack from the Fulham freekick , Ballack puts a long ball well controlled by Anelka on left wing he has three options coming and he passes the ball to arrivibg Robinho who smashes it from the edge of the box and curls it in the top right corner and secures all three points for Chelsea .
Scolari looks pleased with the win as he congratulates his players and waves to the fans . The Kaka , Robinho combo has worked well for Chelsea so far and they have been brilliant signings for the club .

Arsenal and Charlton shared one point each in a boring goalless draw . Arsenal dominated the game completely but were unable to convert their chances . Charlton were very lucky many a times and could have easily lost but Arsenal didn't take their chances .

The arch rivalry between the tow clubs saw some type of drama in a game that was expected to be full of drama . Just within six minutes Drogba was poor tackled by skipper Neville and had to be stretched off . But Neville was shown just a yellow card . Ronaldo had a great chance when his freekick hit the crossbar . But later in the second half Rio Ferdinand was pushed badly by Carragher during a United corner and Ferdinand landed awkwardly and injured himself . He was also stretched off the field and is out injured for the rest of the season . Major blow for Manchester United and England . The two teams saw 13 yellow cards in all .

Struggling City took on in form Watford side . Manchester City made their worst start as Hatem Trabelsi was red carded for a very poor challenge of Spring . But Bojinov scored the first goal for the home side . Soon later Juan Arango scored his second of the season to equalized for the away side . Watford took 1 valuable point from this fixture .
Portsmouth 2-3 Sheffield United

Portsmouth ended on the wrong side of a five goal thriller . Webber opened the scoring for Sheff Utd in the 6th minute and soon later James Beattie doubled the lead . But just after the half hour mark David Unsworth ended the ball in his own net . But Lingertwwod scored the third Seffield Utd goal and gave them a massive lead before half time . At the end of normal in second half Jermain Defoe got one back but that had come just too late .

Home side and promoted Reading played really well in this game but they were too unlucky to get all three points from this fixture . New signing Park Chu Young scored his second goal of the season and Royals took the lead . But 10 minutes before the end of the match Leon Osman headed in to equalized and at the end Evrton took 1 a point from a match where they never deserved to get that point .
Wigan Athletic 0-3 Aston Villa

Aston Villa's winning run continued as John Carew scored his first ever hatrick to see off the struggling Lactics at their own backyard . Villa completely dominated the game and also had a lot of possession of the ball .
Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Newcastle United

Two teams who are struggling for form today fought out to get all three points . But at the end it was the home side Blackburn Rovers who got all three points thanks to a very late strike by Benny McCarthy in the 4th minute of stoppage time . It was a much needed win for Rovers .

Boro would have to thank Bolton for their win as the match saw two own goals . New signing Onywu headed in his own net from a corner . But soon later Fabio Rochemback drew a brilliant freekick pass Jaaskelainen , and just after half time it was Meite who this headed in his own net and awarded all three points to the home side .

Spurs poor run in the new season continued as West Ham scored twice at White Hart Lane . Craig Bellamy scored just before half time . But new signing Chris Gunter equalized and gave hope to the Spurs fans . But is all in vain when former Arsenal midfielder scored a brilliant goal from 23 yards out to beat Gomes as West Ham United took the lead and defended it until the last minute .

Chelsea have won their first 2 UEFA Champions League matches of the new season . Chelsea beat Werder Bremen 2-1 and are almost near to qualification for the knockout stage .
Scolari made couple of changes that beat Fulham ar Carevn Cottage . Ballack came in for Lampard and Anelka started in place of Shevchenko .
A free kick was awarded to Werder Bremen early in the game. Transfer target Diego took it, it deflected off the wall and found it's way to Frings, he whipped the ball into the box for Ivan Klasnic to head home passed Petr Cech to open the scoring for Werder Bremen.
The equalising goal came just before half time. Robinho won possession back in the centre of the field and knocked a beautiful ball through the defence to Anelka who timed his run perfectly. He got one on one with Reinke before tucking it through the legs of the goalkeeper.
Essien's first goal of the season and the eventual winner come in the second half. Cech lifted the ball upfield and Anelka found Lampard with his header, he played the ball through to Essien who fired it passed Reinke first time, excellent finish, excellent goal.
Werder Bremen were down to ten men in the last minute, German midfielder Tim Borowski was shown a straight red card for a poorly timed tackle on Michael Essien which injured the player. Mike Dean made no mistake in sending the German off.
The full time whistle blew. Scolari looked happy as he waved and clapped to the Stamford Bridge Chelsea fans . Nicolas Anelka and Michael Essien the scorers today were the heroes .
