IPL Chennai Super Kings | #WhistlePodu

Looks like Theekshana might not get a match if these “fans” have their way:

I think it will fizzle out soon enough... This political mud slinging has been happening for several decades no. Right now, it is just used for publicity. CSK know this too well for a decade now and yet they've gone ahead and picked Theekshana in their squad, and he was also part of the CSK camp last year as a net bowler. And despite him being a net bowler last year, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu (Stalin) took part in the CSK IPL victory celebrations in Chennai.. I feel this new government could possibly ignore all the publicity hungry folks and let SL players play at Chepauk and within the CSK team. The earlier order of SL players not being allowed to play in Chepauk came from Jayalalitha, who is no more and her party was beaten in the state elections and DMK has formed the new government.

Same jersey as last year (well for CSK, 95% of their jersey is the same since 2008) but I kinda like the look of the new sponsor logo (TVS Eurogrip) better than the previous one (Myntra).

CSK loves same-ness and their jersey has become so connected with the fan base that an overwhelming majority actually doesn't want much change in the jersey at all!
Not official yet, let's wait for 26th actually.

Ah just saw it on Twitter! Same one as I posted, but they've added an additional "4-camouflage stripes" on the back of the collar  To indicate the "4 IPL titles":clap:thumbs

CSK are doing it really well with their jersey updates. No need to make wholesale changes. These small incremental changes spice it up enough.

End of thala captaincy era

WTF?

Devon Conway's selection now turns out all the more of a masterstroke! Conway is a keeper, and an opening batsman who is also a left hander. If Dhoni decides to not play a few games, Conway can keep wickets. If CSK need an Indian keeper, Jagadeesan is available, but Jaggi's batting value is utilized only at the top of the order which means he needs to open along with Ruturaj. This could mean that Conway and Jaggi will essentially swap themselves depending on the combination CSK needs for the respective game (if and when Dhoni does not play).

Hope they announce Ruturaj Gaikwad as the vice captain. Truly cant see anyone else become the heir apparent for CSK. Moeen Ali is 34 and cant be vice captain. The only other option is Deepak Chahar, but being a bowler and being injury prone, pretty less chances to appoint Chahar as vice captain.

Jaddu will rock this season. Brilliant decision by CSK management. Less pressure for MSD.

Isn't Chahar already ruled out for this season?

Excellent post match chat (AS ALWAYS) with MSD!

He essentially put it out there that "Jadeja is not cut out for captaincy". If an individual's game is getting too affected by the extra responsibility and that burdens the team, then that individual is not captaincy material! Hope they realize it and dont try it back with him again! Jadeja is a crucial impact player whose batting turns games towards the end and who bowls some very tight overs and prises out important batsman. Important that he's just let to do his thing. He's limited, but can maximize his returns in that limitation.

This season is almost a goner, but hope they learnt an important captaincy lesson there! And what this means is - Dhoni will continue captaincy into next season and probably until he plays the game.

P.s: This captaincy saga is almost mirroring Tamil Nadu's political history once big and influential leaders are not there anymore (e.g. AIADMK has no heir post Jayalalitha's death; DMK struggled for a long time too, but fortunately for them,, Stalin has now consolidated)
