Ross, I would personally prefer limited teams (maybe intl sides like SA, Aus, Eng, Pak, SL, Ind, WI, NZ, Zim, Ire etc.) with common rosters for all a la Madden where you need to have the same rosters else you can't play online.

You will have a choice of competing online against teams that are "standard" as shipped with the game and "custom".
