Commonwealth Bank Series Feb-Mar 2011/12

Though we should give credit for Hussey to take it from 187/8 to 229.....he should have known how to finish it off like say, Bevan.....I still remember, many a times Bevan from similar situations would make it 6-7 off the last over and make things easy....

This is what separates the Good from the Great.....taking it all the way and not finishing it off.... :facepalm

That tie cost India the place in the finals. Dhoni will be rueing the fact that he couldn't finish off that game for India and now it has cost us a place in the finals. Had we got those crucial 2 points and denied Sri Lanka the 2 points, India might have been in control of their own destiny in the series.

Never mind. I am glad this Indian team is now coming home. A long and mainly cheerless stay in Australia comes to an end. Indian fans will be sighing with relief and disappointment in equal measure. Not one of the more memorable tours to be sure. Time to move on and look to the future.

I guess Australia will lose , most probably a close match, so that they can say they did not "influence" which team plays them in the final . (cricket experts who can dig out history can shed more light on this :D )

:D

There is nothing wrong in that and aussies should not be upset abt it . But if they manage to win against Lanka , India will be CB series champion .

:D :D

I guess, everyone knew Lanka was going to win. Now Australia will be the 2012 CB series winner .

Beg to differ . It is the rotation policy and the petty spat between Dhoni and Sehwag that cost India the place in the final.

So I bid farewell to this thread and the disastrous tour our team had. Hopefully we will bounce back strongly in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.

Just before I leave, I've got one thing to share!
Just for the people who know Hindi! :lol

Good, that was good... We needed to be back home. What if we continued our losing trend to Australia and get hammered again in the finals? Seeing Australia's record against SL this series, I never had any hopes in them helping us make the final, and also I feel depending on others is a waste of time.

I believe we played much better cricket in the ODI's than the tests, and that the rotation policy, the controversies and Dhoni's falling captaincy truly screwed us this series. If only Dhoni picked the right players and played a slightly faster knock against Sri Lanka in that tied game, we would have been in the final here. Anyways, bye to all in this thread! Had fun discussing....:thumbs

I'm finding it difficult to remember the last time when Team India won a series in any format of the game, AWAY from home? :lol Also going by Dhoni's so called 'ill-fated' luck, I wouldn't be surprised if CSK end up rock bottom in this season's IPL. That would cap up a perfect 365 days for me.

I feel sorry for Virat that his efforts couldn't led India to the final but it's a team game and as a team india didn't perform well through out the series Sri Lanka deserved it

Expecting some fight from SL in the finals as well :thumbs

It's only been 2 tours. They bombed out awfully in England and Australia, but the tour before that was in the West Indies, and India won the series in all 3 formats. They also did pretty well in SA in their 4th last tour, 1-1 in Tests and lost 2-3 in ODIs, with a 1 run loss in the 1st one.

He is one of the most active user in the hater list of Indian team, so no matter what you tell him he will come up with some ???? to support his argument. Not realizing that it was only England and Australia tour that India did bad in.

But I think its good for India that they crashed out. They have a longer rest period before the Asia Cup unlike Sri Lanka because they only have 1 day after the final before the Asia Cup starts on March 10(?).
