Country's all-time teams (Test)...

Yeah I spouse. Yousuf wasn't far behind before he hit his strides and I don't think Inzy has ever been as successful as what Yousuf acchieved this year. We're talking about a batting average of 50 compared to a batting average of 56 remember and both guys have played their fair share of games aswell. Would you consider Steve Waugh a better batsman then Ricky Ponting?
As much as I hate to say this about Yousuf, its just one year! He has been famous in his past career to throw his wicket away at crucial points during a match, and its always been Inzamam to the rescue. I don't disagree that what Yousuf achieved this year will probably not be achieved by another Pakistani in a long time, but that does not make him better than the batsman who has repeatedly won Pakistan matches from the brink of defeat.

P.S: Waugh vs Ponting is an interesting one, I'd say its pretty close at the moment, but Waugh comes out ahead as he faced tougher bowling in his career. I might say Ponting in a couple of years, but for right now its Waugh.

Remember, stats don't always tell the whole story.

even though Yousuf has had an amazing year, he needs to perform consistently for a longer period of time to be in my all time Pakistani XI.
And why does the same logic not apply to Younis?? Mohd Yousuf is well on the way to being Pakistan's best batsman ever, at the moment.
I can even make a case for Zaheer Abbas and Majid Khan before Younis Khan. Zaheer IMO was the best Pakistan number three ever. Don't see at all why on earth you would pick Younis Khan ahead of them. Put him in front of Holding Croft Marshall Garner Willis Lillee Thompson et al without a helmet and watch the blood fly.

I'll start with the West Indies... (you can do any country you want)

1 Gordon Greenidge
2 Desmond Haynes
3 Brian Lara
4 Sir Viv Richards
5 Sir Garry Sobers
6 Clive Lloyd (C)
7 Sir Clyde Walcott (WK)
8 Malcolm Marshall
9 Curtly Ambrose
10 Joel Garner
11 Courtney Walsh

(Any West Indies fans who don't like the list just say)
Got to love West Indies Cricket :cheers
Lloyd as captain before Sobers and Walcott? Walsh in and not Holding??? No George Headley? Blasphemy!

I guess you missed my 2nd team that I posted yesterday... but oh go ahead and bash that team if you like... I bet you'll find a way to criticize the fact that I some how seam to put in the West Indies all-time wicket taker in tests cricket in there best 11. What was I thinking?!?!

I would still have Yousuf instead of Younis.. Younis is not that great yet to be considered to be in the All Time Pakistani Line-up.

Yes I did miss your second team, sorry. But you still picked Richards as captain instead of Sobers or Walcott, which is wrong in my opinion. And not to take anything away from Walsh, but stats are not the only thing that make a great cricketer, son. I will take Holding over Walsh any time, no matter what the pitch what the conditions and who the opposition.
And try not to take things personally, you mentioned yourself in the first post that people can disagree with you if they want. Thats all I am doing.

Murray Goodwin? Eddo Brandes? Henry Olonga? These three should surely be there.
Haven't heard much of David Brain, how good was he?

In my opinion, Olonga is a tough choice when compared to Brandes n Streak. But i wud have preferred an another all rounder in that list named, " Neil Johnson ". He played only for an year though (99-00) i guess. But dont knw what happened to him later? i.e i heard he was injured but later, donk knw why he didnt return to the team.

But he was very promising guy with both bat and ball. The way he played 99 world cup was Top class averaging 50+ with bat and 19 with ball

Also he had 11 fifties and 4 centuries for just 48 ODIs he played which seem to be a promising sign for a player!

Yea, I knew I was forgetting someone. A top quality allrounder would give balance. So then there would only be 4 bowlers required. But in that case, Brandes, Olonga and Streak are for sure. I'm just checking up on this Brain guy, whether it should be him or Strang as the 4th bowler.
The main problem is, none of Zimbabwe's best batsmen bowl even part time! Murray Goodwin and Alistair Campbell very, very rarely.

Tall with ginger hair, David Brain was a left-arm seam bowler, generally over the wicket, and an aggressive if ungainly tailend batsman who had virtually a meteoric career in international cricket. He was regarded as little more than a good club player who was omitted from Zimbabwe's World Cup team in 1991-92, but the following season he won a place in the Test team and bowled most impressively against New Zealand. He was superb on the tour of Pakistan in 1993-94, spearheading the Zimbabwe attack against formidable opposition in taking 12 wickets at 15.33 in two Tests. He played in Zimbabwe's first Test victory, over Pakistan at home the following season, but he was already heavily involved in the family hardware business when his international career started, and the conflict between cricket and profession saw him fade from the scene soon afterwards.
Hmm...tough choice. I have never seen him bowl, so can't say. But, seeing there are already 4 seamers in Johnson, Olonga, Streak and Brandes, it will have to go to Paul Strang.

Kevin Arnott
Dave Houghton (Part-time offbreaks too)
Andy Flower (Skipper, very, very part time spinner)
Murray Goodwin (3rd spinner)
Alistair Campbell (2nd Spinner)
Neil Johnson
Tatenda Taibu (Keeper)
Heath Streak
Paul Strang
Eddo Brandes
Henry Onlonga

Fairly decent side there.
