Cricket 19 General Discussion

Can someone confirm whether the AI not changing fields in response to the user/player's scoring areas is a known issue even for the console/PC versions?

I have the latest Switch version, and my main gripe with the AI is the field placements (playing on Legend or Veteran AI). I can hit a lofted shot through the long off area for overs on end without any changes to the field by the AI.

It is disappointing because I feel the AI batting/bowling has improved considerably from DBC and Ashes, but the field placements and changes during the matches are significantly worse (IIRC).

And yes, I can switch sides and select a custom field I've created for the AI, but the AI keeps going back to one of its preset fields and completely ignores my main scoring areas.

PS. Is there any workaround for this - e.g. does changing the bowler's personality from aggressive to conservative affect field placements in any way?
Yeah, that's been an issue since DBC 14 lol. Big Ant definitely worked on batting and bowling AI but seems like they just didn't have time for fielding AI. Although I will say this game has the best slip fielding compared to previous games.

Doodling around with my Wacom last night and this morning (lockdown boredom), tweaked my face for my pro. Looking pretty good these days. Here's a comparison from launch to now:

Just wish the in-game lighting was as good as the menu lighting. Pretty much all player models come out looking worse in-game.

A lot of credit goes to WasteYourYouth for the beast of a playface template with all the layers and such. And inspiration to do my own faces.

the one dismissal i've definitely never had is an edge or other catch to point/backward point.

I've had a sliced drive straight to point. It's a job to remember which build it occurred in, and which build got rid of which dismissal.

was that you getting out or the AI?

I think i may have had 1 possibly 2 instances of me getting out that way, but the AI never.

Do cracks do anything? I'd like to get a jag back bowled through the gate when batting. The problem with raising footwork difficulty (mine is on 76), is it makes it really hard to hit other shots cleanly, especially with spinners. Many many dismissals occur on the block, even though it is the safest of shots.

I would essentially like to change some sliders to make blocking the ball harder. I already have the "input miss quality" on 100.[DOUBLEPOST=1586249349][/DOUBLEPOST]

I think it was AI vs AI. It may have been an edge to gully, it was a very thick one I remember. It definitely wasn't me batting

Cracks do have an effect in game: even when they weren't there visually due to a bug they have an effect.[DOUBLEPOST=1586250239][/DOUBLEPOST]What would be really cool is a set of modding tools that would allow us as users to customise and tweak shots, edges, trajectories, gameplay. I am not talking about the sliders here. Cricket 07 had a number of tools made by users that would allow for tweaking of shot direction etcetera.

How about degredation, even when it's not visible, does the ball seem to you to jag around more late in a test?

My personal experience is the pitches tend to flatten out rather than deteriorate. They lose a bit of pace and bounce but movement and "threat" reduces a lot. This exacerbates the AI overpowered 4th inns but also I think for a user it's generally easier to bat on too.

It's an area of the game that definitely doesn't work properly, or if it's working "properly" (i.e. as intended) the design is poor.

I've had an enjoyable day 1 pitch for Mumbai. Spin, cracks, it has similarities to what I've looked for studying ball tracking from hawkeye.

Main issues I'm having are to do with fielding which frustrates me in every format.

As the game goes on I'm hoping for the bounce lower and more uneven bounce, I'd assume these comes from the cracks. Although as I am playing around sliders it could impact things.

Looks good!

Little tutorial on the Play face will be good in this lockdown time. Any material for this ?

I just stick fielding onto auto and it’s relatively issue free. Best way to get the best experience. Unless you LOVE throwing the ball arounf

I have probably exhausted it and shared enough feedback :lol

i wish it was possible to do the mini-catching game but have everything else auto. i know lots of people hate the catching but i really like it
would take this too, but ideally I'd like fielding to get boosted to be a bit more engaging. Make use of all the buttons like batting and bowling. Only bit I would rather not do, if it was working well, would be manually running fielders to the ball.

Do these "Pitch sliders" have no affect in saved games? Have we ascertained that? I'd like to be able to artificially increase pitch friction and reduce pitch bounce at the end of every day by 5 points.

Basic fundamentals are there. Also just realised I have a second account?

Anyway, I may do one, don't have a microphone atm, broke a while ago, and deliveries aren't shipping non-essentials here in Australia atm. Just in case I don't do one, what you need for best results: Wacom (cheap ones will do just fine), Photoshop or something of that like, and a DSLR photo - pixel density is more important than resolution size, this is due to compressing down to 1024 x 1024 and having to be a jpeg. Samsung s10+ and google pixel phones don't cut it, I've tried with those phones and the results haven't been great.

In typing this, I have now decided to do one lol. Might take a week or so as I don't usually record stuff and am a novice in that regard.
