Cricket 19 General Discussion

Been having a great test match as South Africa 90's vs Aus 90s. For some reason I set the game type to a historical test match - so 8 ball overs! No DRS of course which is actually cool as i benefitted from a shocking LBW decison to dismiss Ponting in the first innings.

Anyway the test was played at the WACA. weather was for showers over the entire 5 days, weather was hot. had ramped up swing to 85 I think (everyday i altered some sliders ie pitch bounce, spin etc to give a realistic deteriotion. I saved and restarted after each day - apparentyl that makes the slider changes take effect?

Aus (CPU) won the toss and batted first. I had them in all sorts at 90/6. eventually all out for 196. Mark Taylor top scored with 68. I then bat and manage 275. Few players got starts ie Kirsten 38, Kallis 40, Rhodes 70. Mcgrath got 5 wickets

Aus then bat again and I reduce then to 30/3. Mark Waugh and Ponting then put on over 100 together, and they dig in to eventually amass 430! Waugh top scores with 130 odd.

So I am set 330 to win. Currently late on Day 4 at 120/3. it hangs in the balance but Warney is spinning it big. he also fooled Kirsten with a straight yorker to trap him LBW for 78 (was playing him so well before that)

Great game, but still rough around the edges. I really hope the next iteration is an overhaul by Big Ant. Also, the community content seems to be a little wayward when compared to Ashes Cricket?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is there a dedicated thread to post screenshots from the game?

overhaul would be the worst thing..

Just need to build on the solid platform and tweak the things missing.
Just a hypothesis here, as I have no conclusive data, but based on experience, I think building on the existing platform is probably not the best approach (though, economically, it will be the cheapest and therefore most likely). One of the issues with the current platform is the level of technical debt that has built up over the interations since DBC14 and it is probably due for a significant amount of refactoring to eliminate the recurring issues with the game. The current code base does not appear to be easy to maintain and will become less stable the more that it is used as a base for future games. I'm not suggesting rebuilding everything from scratch but I don't think that tweaking will be successful in producing a better game. Happy, of course, to be proved wrong on this.

I’m almost certain, that Ashes and Cricket 19 are different to the others.

just need to know.. what the trigger for this to happen was!

It's so annoying that we have to figure that out though... Why can't the developers get on the forums and just give us some clues?

I'm having superb AI v AI limited overs games while I work on Pro mode, with bowl quality at 80 and stiker timing at 30. I'll post some scorecards later.

just knowing that it’s possible and it’s in the game intrigues me. I wonder there’s perks for playing spin, for footwork, for “special shots”... I know that player didn’t have them but maybe they can increase the likelihood. Who knows.

I just want ring catches in a test match in the current one please. Why are we always obsessed about the next iteration

I watch a LOT of AI vs AI cricket, over a whole of a working day, normal office hours, thousands of overs. I stopped watching test cricket when I realised there were NO ring catches. I also have a screen for real cricket!

If AI vs AI cricket is not representative (as I'm always told) of what folks should see when bowling it is a shame, because I challenge someone to have watched more of the AI batting engine at play!

Would it be considered a special shot? Going off the controls for user batting it doesn't fall in the same category.

Is there any way to customize celebrations? If there isn't, I think it would make a great addition because the default celebrations are not sentient at all.

I don't know what to tell you. But I've seen video of catches at shot cover... from the 14 tests I've played on the England in the 90s, I've posted my own video of short mid-wicket, backward square leg, and mid-wicket catches, and a deep mid-off skier.

Are there enough? Nope. Are there there? Clearly.[DOUBLEPOST=1586890922][/DOUBLEPOST]

Possibly not, though we do have to press the R3 trigger to advance, no - so it's possible? But perhaps its more related to footwork and spin ability
