Cricket 19 General Discussion

After further testing...

I have been getting R1 X to be hitting the top/trimming the bails.

This seem to produce far more play and misses, LBW, Bowleds.

I suppose it gives you an extra deliver type to attack the stumps with.

The AI seem to also play this length of ball in a more realistic manner.

Issue is.. 6ft 4 Mcgrath was trimming the bails on a grassy medium but then flying over in a dusty medium.

So it takes a lot of tweaking and setting presets for pitch types.

Just carrying on the "less skills is better gameplay" discussion: shouldn't we then be seeing "better" cricket in say the early stages of a career if this was the case? Thoughts?

well I dunno if it works as low as that, but I would say every player I’ve ever downloaded I’ve re-skilled to my own preference and they are typically 10-25 points lower than most peoples defaults. My “world class” players come out about 80, all time legends 85... most other internationals in the 75 region and county journeymen who played a test or two in the 60s and 50s. Ian Salisbury is 41.

Basically if you think there are 5 blocks, I work on 1st block = crap, 2nd block = journeyman, 3rd block = good county/international 4th block = international

End of the 4th block and beginning of 5th block is world class/legend territory

perks used just to boost a few things that might come to mind for that player

this approach has served me well enough.

Going to download a couple of your teams and see how it worls out: do you have a suggestion for two of your times that might be particularly useful?

give me 15 minutes and download England and Australia 90s. I’m just tweaking them now based on the series I’ve been playing. I also think the ones on the server are after I added some of wastes players to England and hadn’t re-skilled them, and hadn’t re-skilled some of the newer aussies

Cheers Dave! Will wait for your signal!

just done now, sorry took a bit longer than expected.

australia 90s Ashes and England 90/91, both under mrdconnors.

As West Indies are the next team I have to play I’ll be doing those now too - they are mainly fine from the last tour I did but I added a couple of new versions of downloaded players who are over skilled

Downloading as we speak! Thanks for the work.

My latest annoyance is how tailenders appear to be able to smear the ball around in the last 10 overs like they are Shahid Afridi. But they bat like tailenders if it is not the slog overs.

This didn't happen much on a soft, dusty pitch, it's happened a load on a soft, dry pitch. All other settings unchanged.

@blockerdave Dave do you play the "Play Now"mode or setup a tour or custom game?

usually I play in the tours, but I’m wondering if I’ll carry on doing that and maybe do play now instead, so I can tweak the academy during a “tour” and have the effects.

Oh btw I forgot to change the default lineups for Aus and England - they’re an absolute mess so be careful.

also, just uploaded West Indies 90/91

I think someone with two 3 blocks would be rated the same as someone with five and two. The perks also contribute to overall rating but not the bat/bwl/fld

Interesting.

My Kane Williamsons, Smiths, Starcs, Kohlis sit between 70-75.

Average is 60-65.

Associate players, players breaking in, disappointing careers would be 55-60..
