Post Line-ups Cricket at the 1948 Olympics | Match 12 - What on earth happened back there?!

Headley and Everton Weekes are the only two Windies I know from that era. Was Clyde Walcott also a part of that team?
Worrel, Weekes and Walcott all started their test careers in the year 1948 however, they were playing FC cricket from early 1940s itself so they should be good for an Olympics season just after the World War 2 ended (the real Olympics after WWII took place in 1948). By 1954, I will be able to play the 3Ws, Headley and Sobers altogether. Give a thought on that.

Cricket at the Olympics - Amsterdam 1928

The 1928 Olympic Games, now known as the Summer Olympics since a separate Winter Olympics was introduced in 1924, are set to be hosted in Amsterdam, Netherlands. With as many as 20 teams entering for the sport of cricket, it is set to be the biggest international cricket tournament till date. The teams participating (in alphabetical order) are:

West Indies.

Making their Olympic debuts this year are China, who missed out in both 1920 and 1924 due to various reasons. Uruguay, who have gone on to dominate the sport of football like no other, will also try their hand at cricket for the very first time. Meanwhile, Burma and Egypt will be making their comebacks to the sport after a 16-year hiatus. This will also be the first Olympic Games since 1908, in which the host nation participates in cricket. The Netherlands are one of the most prominent cricket teams to not have the so-called "Test status" and have a deep history with the game. They will be looking to make the most of a rare opportunity of playing in an Olympics at home.

The Amsterdam Olympisch Stadion and Harry Elte Stadium will play host to the cricket matches set to take place in the tournament. The usual cup tie or knockout format will be used again, though this time the Games will include a preliminary round featuring eight teams vying for four available spots in the first round of sixteen.

Player rarities

In each squad, players have been marked with these icons to give you a fair idea of their playing skills and overall usefulness to your team.

:purpo: - Legend. Used for the players that are undoubtedly the best of the lot.
:goldo: - Gold. Used for players with a high level of consistency and ability to deliver during key moments.
:redo: - Ruby. Used for players that are extremely talented and can play in a way no one else can replicate.
:slvo: - Silver. Used for players that aren't as talented as their Gold/Ruby/Legend contemporaries, but still capable of holding their own against the best in business.
:blueo: - Sapphire/Crystal. Used for players that are halfway between Bronze and Silver. They are more likely to put in good performances than players from the Bronze category.
:bro: - Bronze. Used for players that are inexperienced or with a lower skill set compared to those from a higher category. They could either put in good performances or fail miserably.

Another very strong Irish team. So long as we don't get rearranged by Herbie Taylor, we should be in with a very good chance for a bronze medal. (Unless we do the Irish thing and start a bit slowly.)
