Cricket Leagues - Support and Advice

Start It ASAP

Have some free time, so decided to start a league. It will be called '3 Generations Cricket League' or in short '3GCL'.
There will be around 8 teams, all that of test playing nations. The squad will include 6 Retired Cricketers-6 Present Playing Cricketers & 6 playing domestic cricket(age under 20-22?).
So if I get enough response, I am ready to give it a blast.:)

Count me in

Hi guys. Does anyone know roughly when CL 10 will commence? If their is enough time, I might start an IPL after I've finished, or towards the end of the BPL. I've already got banners and shizz on standby. So if vous give me the greenlight, then i might do it!

They normally just start when someone's interested in running them, and there's a minimum of six leagues available to be used. Don't start a league just to be in the CL anyway, if you want to run an IPL then go ahead and do it. Plus if it's not in CL 10 it can be in CL 11, provided it's 50 over matches.

Issue

Well guys I have clearly noticed something which is really disturbing. I was a newbie and I created 3 leagues and all 3 failed. I went off PC and came back and now have almost completed 5 season of a league taking it to 150 pages. I know this is just a virtual world and not real life but I have noticed something which is quite disturbing.

With all due respects there are few members who will join only a particular person's league and wont join others league like mine. Have I dont bad? Or does my league idea not interest you? I really try hard to fit in ideas and entertain you all but why do those members not join? Whenever someone like me or some upcoming guy ask they always say they are busy and then they will join all other leagues. :facepalm

This is not directed to any particular member but I have noticed this which is really not good enough.

They must be in that league for a long time and then when you're league came up they would be busy.

Does that matter, Rohit? There are decent enough managers available in the forum. I've kept my leagues in terms of managing to just 2-3. Associate PL (fully), WPL (it is a pretty short season, so gave it a shot) and OPL (partly/have Fenil as a co-manager there). Joined Author's Cricket Challenge as it doesn't involve draft or other stuff. I'm a tad busy as well so won't join any other leagues in near future. I guess other people are too.

So, just keep your league going and have members which are joining the league by themselves. Cut down the teams if you don't get enough of them. If it is a good one, people will eventually be attracted and feel like joining it. Good luck!

It may or may not be the case. Why does it bother you is what I'm trying to say. Just do with the managers you've got. What others feel is not something you or me or for that matter anyone else can change..

Tbh I assume you're kind of directing this at me, so I'm going to reply as if you are.

The only league I've joined since you asked me to join yours has been Dipak's OPL, and that's because that was pretty much a direct replacement for his GPL which I was previously apart of for six seasons. That was part of the reason, and the other part was that I wanted to manage a New Zealand franchise which I haven't really been able to do since I've been running the NZPL on here.

The only other leagues that are currently active that I'm apart of are Iridium's EPL which I've been apart of since around this time last year, and swacker's PC tour league (which tbh I don't really have to do anything in) which I joined at around the same time I joined your PCPL. You asked my to join your current league about a month ago, which was when I was coming on here literary once a week, you even posted saying that I was hardly coming on here anymore, so what would've been the point in me joining a league then? I've been more active on here for a week or so now and will only be for another week or so, and it just happened that Dipak's player allocation was happening exactly in this time. I didn't even join Sartaj's WPL because it was starting around that time that I was extremely busy at, and that's a league that I've previously been in for multiple seasons.

So overall it comes down to a mixture of the league manager and the league idea. For example I've never joined any of The Author's leagues. From what I've seen he's a great league manager, so it has nothing to do with that. It comes down to that when I was really active here he wasn't really around, which similar to you who like you said yourself has gone on and off here a bit. Something else is that I've become (without sounding gay) closer to the likes of Riz, Chewie, Sartaj, etc. because they've been long serving managers in my own league.

In terms of me, I can't really say that what you're saying isn't true, because to some extent it is. Whether you think that's "really not good enough" or not, I can't really help that. User's two posts have pretty much it the nail on the head as well.

You forgot your APL coach and fellow Jager Bomber owner. :( :p

Jokes apart, I agree to what Callum said, when you manage a team in one's league for many seasons, say five or six, you tend to get closer to the league manager and vice versa. While allotting teams in the OPL, I was a bit convinced to give teams to my former GPL managers especially those who have been for more than five seasons, because I know they won't let me down.

You were part of the "etc." :p

I actually didn't mention you there because I'd already mentioned you earlier in the post.
