Cricket Quiz

Maybe we should make it a rule not to research the answer. The person who asks the question can allow people to research it after nobody is able to guess. Of course we'll have to go on the honor system.

It does say on the first page what the rules are :p Except it was being a bit over-ambitious with the 12 hour thing, doesn't exactly take into account people in different timezones.

I've changed it to 24. It doesn't mention don't use google as it is impossible to police. I tend to use questions that can't be found easily with google...

It says "don't cheat", what is that supposed to mean other than looking up the answers? I know it's hard to police, but when someone just posts some ridiculous stat that not even Andrew would know off the top of his head, it does kind of give it away :twiddles thumbs:

As I said, it can only work on an honor system. And if the person asking the question lets people use the internet for researching the answer after a day of fruitless guessing, I'd say less people would wanna cheat right away.

Not to accuse anyone here, but the fact that you knew every part of his figures leads me to believe you looked that up

I knew the bowler and number of overs, and might have guessed the wickets, (would probably have said 3 actually) but the rest of the figures no chance. Not saying you definately wouldn't have known, but technically I think it's no researching until it's been a good few days with no answer, and even then you should say ;)

soz mate, completely correct with that one lol.

Sorry guys, nightprowler have another question coz i didnt read the rules, I just saw the question and went, this one has gotta be on statsguru! but anyway, sorry about that, continue the game

No problem mate. Very well then, I'll be back with a question soon.

Ok, this is probably an easy one. What is considered the worst batting collapse in a test inning (how many wickets fallen in how many runs)? List the name of the team batting and fielding, and the score before the collapse?

BONUS: Name the highest wicket taker in that inning.

What do you mean by worst collapse? Is their a minimum number of wickets that have to have fallen? Are you basing it on average of runs added to wickets lost? Do they have to be all-out by the end of the collapse. Seems a little bit vauge.

Also no probs Mark, it's not like you were trying to pretend you hadn't looked it up. It was a little obvious the way you realed off his maidens and entire stats for the match, and as you said you didn't know you weren't supposed to.

I think you should chose a different question. "considered to be the worst batting collapse" is a matter of opinion, not of fact. People will disagree on what is the worst batting collapse, it's not something one can quantify.

Yeah I should use a different question, or modify this one a bit. Be back something soon.

I've decided to stick with the question, but I'll make it more specific.

Who was the leading wicket taker in what is considered the worst batting collapse in test history (8 wickets in 5 runs)? Also name the two sides playing the match.

Still too vague?

Still too vague. It's still a question about opinion, not fact.

How do we know what is considered the worst batting collapse in history. People disagree on it.

Ask a question that is on nothing but fact.

Well, it was a good match to ask about, I just need to think of a better question. Meanwhile, here's a different one.

Should be a fairly easy one, but still try not to look up the answer ;)

Besides Laker and Kumble, name two bowlers who were the sole wicket takers in a complete test inning (where all 10 wickets fell). Also name the teams they were bowling against.

EDIT: Give others a chance Andrew, as I'm sure you know this one :p
