Oh dear lord. Australian cricket is in a mess.
Beer? Seriously?
I wonder if I could get a test cap if I flew over to Australia now. They seem intent on giving every spinner in the country a game.
This is just ridiculous.
Smith likely to play as well. Very, very eager to see how he goes. His bowling hasn't impressed me at all because his action isn't very smooth or repeatable, although he gets in a nice position when he releases the ball. Didn't notice that till I saw his bowling in slow motion. So if he clicks he could be difficult to play.
But the fact that he's often treated like a part-timer in domestic games doesn't bode well if he's going to bowl at an in-form England lineup.
Also want to see what he can do with the bat. Almost definitely can't be worse than North.
That's another thing that pisses me off. The Aussie players and selectors kept saying North's a great player, we have faith in him, he'll come good, great guy to have in the team, etc...and then they go and drop him. Yes, he deserved to be dropped, but what's the point of all that false support? Why not just come out and say 'Yea, he's been in ████ form, and he is playing for his spot in the side. He has the ability, but if he doesn't convert that into performances, he'll probably lose his spot in the side'. After all, there is no point in giving him false support and acting as though you have his back, and then dropping him. That'll do his confidence more harm than good. Atleast if you're being honest he knows what to expect, and who knows, fear of losing his spot could be a better motivator than knowing everyone is supporting you.
Hughes to open, Beer likely to debut. I think Aus might bring back Mith and Hilfy and leave Beer to 12th man duties, but why pick a new rookie just to carry drinks to the field?
The Australian selector's thought process are messed up.
