Hi to all viewers and welcome to Set Max studios for the 12th match of DLF IPL. I myself Harsha Bhogle with two experts Arun Lal and Akash Chopra will discuss about today's game. Deccan Chagers vs Kings XI Punjab. I am sure it will be a great match. Hayden vs Gilly,Oh my God seems so exciting. We are still waiting for a DLF IPL century this year so maybe today could be the day. What are your thoughts about today's game Akash?

Akash Chopra-I do think that todays match will be perhaps the best match in this years IPL till now. Punjab and Deccan both teams have strong side and specially the two Australian openers Head To Head,Gilly and Haydos. Would be a great competition surely.

Harsha Bhogle-Surely it would be. Arun your thoughts about today's match,


Arul Lal-See Harsha i am in favor of both the teams because in the end i am supporting Kolkata but they aren't playing well. So in todays match i guess i'll need to support a team but its too hard to choose any team between these two teams,Punjab and Deecan. Both of them have good balance in their side and any one of them can win.

Harsha Bhogle-That's true. At the ground we have Jeremy Coney with someone from Kings XI Punjab side.

Jeremy Coney- Right Harsha i have with me one of the finest cricketers ever Hayden with me. So Hayden ready for today's match vs Gilly. Can we expect a big innings from you?

Matthew Hayden- Yeh mate ready for today's match. Haven't played a big innings in this years IPL so far so today maybe will be the day for me.

Jeremy Coney- You had a look at the pitch what are your thoughts?

Matthew Hayden- Yeh i just saw the pitch and its a cracking one for batting. Its flat,There are some chances of dew as well so yeah today is the day for batsmen.

Jeremy Coney- Certainly and a day for t20 fans. What do you think will be a good total in today's match by the team batting first?

Matthew Hayden- I am not sure anything around 160 to 180 would be a good total.

Harsha Bhogle- Thanks for the interview Jeremy. It seems Hayden seems confident about his form and as he said maybe a big innings from him is around the corner.

Sunil Gavaskar- Its time for the all important toss. I have with me the men who matter Adam Gilchirst(Captain Deccan Chargers) and Yuvraj Singh(captain Kings XI Punjab).

Sunil Gavaskar- Yuvraj has the coin,Gilly to call.....

Sunil Gavaskar- Yuvraj tosses the coin up in the air,Gilly calls heads..... and it is heads.

Sunil Gavaskar- So Gilly what will your side do after winning the toss? Batting or Bowling.

Adam Gilchrist- We would bat first Sunny... Looks to me as if the surface is a great one for batting so putting a big total on the board and then defending it would be much better than batting second and chasing on this surface but maybe i could be wrong because the dew factor comes into the play.

Sunil Gavaskar- Do you think bowlers will get bit swing on this surface?

Adam Gilchrist- I do think there will be bit of swing for the bowlers. That is the main reason we are batting first because we know that if our bowlers get bit swing we can win this match.

Sunil Gavaskar- OK Gilly i wont waste your further time. Best Of Luck for the match.

Sunil Gavaskar- So Yuvraj your team is bowling first. Are you happy with that.

Yuvraj Singh- Ah,Yeah we are. Actually if we would have won the toss we would have bowled first as well. This pitch wont be changing much till the match end's so chasing on this surface won't be hard.

Sunil Gavaskar- Your personal form has been good so do you expect a big innings from yourself in this match?

Yuvraj Singh- I certainly do. I have been batting well in the past and i would surely try to win this match for my team.

Akash Chopra-Both the sides looks evenly strong and i have to say it will be a great match this one. Both the sides have good players and its a batting day today so yeah waiting for the match to start.

Harsha Bhogle- We are really close to the start of play. What are your pick guys. Which team to win today?

Arun Lal- I would support Kings XI Punjab in this match there side certainly looks a bit stronger.

Akash Chopra- Certainly not Arun. Deccan all the way!!!

Deccan Chargers innings​

So after winning the toss Gilchrist and Marsh,Deccan Chargers openers came to bat. It will be fair enough to say that it was a horrible start for Deccan Chargers. They lost 4 wickets for just 19 runs. All their main batsmen went to pavilion and at the middle the batsmen were Shakib AL Hasan and Justin Langer. Langer played a sensational knock to say at least. No one expected such innings from him after all its t20. But he proved that t20 is not just young men game even the oldies can play in it. Langer's 76 runs made sure that Deccan Chargers reach to a respective total of 126. The pitch was damn good for batting so 126 was certainly not enough.

Matthew Hayden and Brendon McCullum intension's were clear. Brendon McCullum took most of the strike and he smashed bowlers all around the park. But somehow he was not playing that quickly that he often do. After Kings XI Punjab reached score of 83 they lost their first wicket of Matthew Hayden. They lost one more wicket of Brendon McCullum when the score was 115 but then Pomersbach and Yuvraj took Kings XI Punjab to the finishing line.

It will continue on day 2. I mean day 1 ends and in night its IPL match then again day 2 ends and IPL match so on till end of day 5.

I cant do anything against it. This is how it goes,IPL matches are played every day same are Ranji Trophy matches.

Wicket falling at one end but at other end Nayar holding the innings together!​

We were able to take 3 wickets yesterday but still we needed to take 7 wickets. Team atmosphere in the dressing room yesterday was quite good. But we didn't had any type of party yesterday night. Arhh frustrating i have to say that yesterday night we got simple Indian food with Water no other type of drinking whatsoever. My room partner was no one other than Ishant Sharma. We both went to the bed when the time was 11.00pm. Quite early i know. But that's how it goes. We woke up early in the morning got fresh and straight away went to the ground. Ground was 15 minutes away from the hotel. We did practice for 2 hours and then came to the field to start the day 2 play... Nayar and Khanvilkar were at the crease. Mithun Manhas thought to try something new and gave the very first over to Rajat Bhatia and it resulted in a wicket. Rajat Bhatia bowled a good length delivery,Kahnvilkar was on front foot and tried to defend the ball but got some edge onto the ball,and ball came straight to my hands and i accepted the catch... Agarkar was the next batsmen he was taking singles and was rotating the strike well. He knew that he just needs to support Nayar at one end and rest can be done by Nayar himself..

When Agarkar was on 19 he lost his wicket.. Mithun Manhas again thought to try something different but this time he introduced himself into the bowling crease. His first over was fine but in his next over he managed to take 2 wickets of Agarkar and Powar. He bowled a full toss to Agarkar and Agarkar thought to smash it on the straight but was not able to because the timing was not correct and ball went straight in the air and Rajat Bhatia took a good catch. Next batsmen Powar was even not able to do anything infect he got out for a duck.. Powar too thought to go for a big stroke and lost his wicket... Next batsmen was Abdulla with just few minutes left for lunch Nayar and Abdulla did well to stay at the crease and Mumbai went to the pavilion for lunch.

Runs as well as wickets after lunch on day 2!​

So after lunch Mumbai intension's were clear. Nayar took most of the strike and soon reached to his fifty. We,Delhi Team planned in lunch that we will continue our surprising bowling changes because it is getting frustrating for batsmen. After lunch Nayar was not able to do anything special and after making just few runs got out in an over of Mithun Manhas. Yes Mithun Manhas,Our tactics were working and that's what we needed. After Nayar wicket there was nothing special but yeah Abdulla played really well and made 28 which also made sure that Mumbai get some lead. But just of 11 runs. Now the question is how will Delhi bat in the second innings? We need to take big lead and win this important Final of Ranji Trophy '09/'10 season. Can we do this,we think we can. Now lets have a look at the man who was out for 0 with the bat but bowled sensationally well to take 4 wickets. Have a look at his pitch map...

As we can see he went for plenty. But took some crucial wickets as well. That's what we expect from a captain. The pressure was on him after he was out for a 0 with the bat but he bowled pretty well to overcome it.

I'll come to the criticism straightaway as if I keep on posting 'Nice update' or 'Good update' it won't help you to improve. The pitchmap is incorrect. Manhas has given away 35 runs if we go by the scorecard. But looking at the map there, I see 27 blue dots and 4 yellow dots which account for more than 35 runs obviously. So, graphics is a good thing but correct graphics is a better one.

First of all cheers for the criticism mate much appreciated,now as far as the graphics are concern i completely agree with the point that correct graphics should be there. I hurried up the last update a bit and hence forgot to count down the balls and the runs in the pitch map. At the moment i am trying to change my presentation a bit because i was copying Surendar a bit too much in the past and i should have my own presentation style. Its a hard job to change your presentation but i am trying my best,as you may have seen in the last update i have changed pics sizes and positions. Hopefully in the near future i can come up with a new style of presentation and so called my style of presentation.

Pressure straight away on Delhi side!!!​

Me and Tehlan came to bat but before that i had a chat with Tehlan in pavilion. I said to him see mate we need to give a good opening partnership and then we can play our own type of innings. But i don't know why he was not listening to me,so i just shut my mouth and straight away went to the field. :o Tehlan smashed boundary of his first bowl and i shouted common Tehlan,nice start lets continue this. Again he was not ready to listen to me and hence lost his wicket after 2 overs. When he was going to pavilion he looked at me and i moved back,his head went down and he continued his walk back to the pavilion.

After Tehlan wicket i started playing my normal innings. I started smashing the bowlers,Dhawan and me decided that lets make some important runs because the pitch is not quite good for batting some cracks are getting open.. One bowl by Agarkar,a bit short came to me i was not able to hit it by my bat and it touched my leg. It was clearly not in line with the stumps but Agarkar shouted. I was shacking my head but umpire raised his finger. I was shocked. But i had to walk,i was completely frustrated but this is how we have to play the game we should have sportsmen spirit as well.

So with Me and Tehlan out. Manhas and Dhawan took innings forward. Dhawan was very lucky,he was dropped few times by the fielder and keeper.. So we have to say it was going his way,luck was completely going his way.. Dhawan continued his form from first innings. Even Manhas was looking good. .Mumbai captain,Wasim Jaffer was looking frustrated but still he needed to appreciate his bowlers. I was frustrated in pavilion because i didn't made a big score but i wanted to. Then Rajat came to me and said common mate why so disappointed? Be chill you tried your best you were a bit unlucky. But you proved you have good talent... I replied thanks mate.

After Manhas thought he is settled at the crease he started playing his natural strokes.. He was taking risks but still he was safe and was taking his innings forward. He soon got to his half century, a good innings by captain under pressure. It was going good for us but just then we lost wicket him,Mithun Manhas. Manhas got on back foot,edged the ball and it went to the keeper. Keeper took a great catch we have to say at least,But still there were some controversies about Manhas dismissal... It was not about that Manhas edged it or not it was about keeper taking the catch or not but he had to come back to pavilion. A good innings under pressure.

Dhawan at his very best!​

After Manhas got out soon Bhatia too lost his wicket. After that Dhawan played some delightful strokes. He knew that his side needs few crucial runs,with middle order collapsing in the first innings. Dhawan knew that could be the case this time as well. So he needed to play his strokes. Then soon he reached to his century,what a innings by the man... Truly sensational under pressure,he raised his bat and shouted oh yeah!!! We all clapped for him and then soon the day 2 ended. Dhawan came back to the pavilion and then we went into our bus to go back to the hotel...

So the day 3 play started. Me and My team mates again went to the field early morning and started practicing.. We practiced well and the main thing was that I tried bowling and I have to say I was quite good in my opinion. But my coach was not happy with me he came to me and said see Aditya,You are a fine bowler but the thing is that you bowl too full and batsman can easily smash you for boundaries so take care of it or else you will become predictable and I don't want that. I said OK coach I will take care of it and then after few minutes day 3 play started. Dhawan and Chabra went on the field to bat.

What a horrible start for the day 3 play it was. Dhawan came back to the pavilion just after 5 minutes of day 3 play and the whole team collapsed in approximately half and hour after the start of the play. Dhawan tried to smash bowl on the leg side but found the fielder and was out. After his wicket there was no sort of recovery,Bisht played well for his 26 but the tail didn't even managed to make 1 run. Our plan was to give at least a target of 350 to Mumbai Ranji Team to chase. But we managed just 254,We were certainly not happy with it. In my mind I was wondering that i will soon play for Delhi Daredevils team and I need to do something special so that I can prove that I deserve to be in the Delhi Daredevils side. I went to my captain Manhas and said Shir believe me we will do something special this time around. The target for Mumbai Ranji Team is 254 but we will make sure that we try our best to try and win the Ranji Final. He said yes mate I know that but 250 is very less,Mumbai team line up is very solid and we will really need to do something very very special. Let's see what we can do,Right now I am thinking of some new plans for Mumbai second innings because we need to get out Jaffer early or else once he gets settled we will loose our chance of winning this years Ranji Final. After that Me,Manhas and whole team went to the field. I said to myself now let's do it,try my best on the field and if I get to bowl lets pull up my shocks and show my captain that I can win a match of my own! I have to take this seriously,After all i am playing Ranji finals for Delhi side.
