Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

Are these with the rest of the stats being played with or just oput of the box as it were?

If your talking about those stats I suggested for amateur Dutch, the bowling attributes are about the same ( low swing, zero to minimal drift etc) while I'm still trying to find a balance for batting. I'm close to getting it so that bowling to a first class player is a different experience to bowling to a world class player, this has only come about today and I've got it set up too bowler friendly atm hence all the edges.

The low swing seems to make a massive difference in that now there is only a slight deviation from a seam up delivery which seems to make the AI play straighter and has resulted in some great play and misses and edges in the game I played today.

So, what "helmet" are your players coming out to - could you throw up some guides/screen shots for say:

Journeyman/poor player;
Reasonable first class player;
World class player

Be interested to know type of edges? Like are they "real" edges (from defence or drives) or top edging cuts?

Proper ones man, from forward defence, straight drives and on drives.

I really recommend trying the reduced swing and drift it's changed the game for me. Outswing set to no more than 6/7 and inswing set to 1/2( 1 swings the ball from off to middle while 2 swings the ball off to leg) I will also have a bowler with a higher inswing setting 5/6 so that i have a bowler who can swing the ball away from the lefthanded batsman.

Now by having my bowlers set up like this my general approach to a RH Batsman for example would be bowling between seam up and outswing on a good length mixing up the angle of delivery and slight adjustments in length but keeping the line the same( LHS straight up).

I've been getting pretty good games on amateur for a while now but am now concentrating on pro level and as i said to Dutch feel like I am getting somewhere with it in making bowling a bit less stressful shall we say!

When you say 1/2 5/6 etc you mean one or two (or five or six) of the little increment bars?

(As opposed to half the way, or five sixths of the way...)

I'm completely ignoring helmet stats/ team rating at the moment but that should all come together. This is very much a work in progress that in regards to pro level is only a few days old.
At the moment it favours bowling but that's probably a good thing. What you'll have to do is increase the attributes until you get the balance you are happy with just as I am currently attempting.

So VERY rough guide:

Reasonable first class batsman : front/back foot: 3/4 other batting attributes 7/8

International batsman : ff/bf: 7/8 oba: 10/11

World class : ff/bf 10+ oba: 12 plus

Bowler who can bat a bit: ff/bf :2 oba:2

Tailenders: zero for all.

Give that a go mate, hopefully you'll like what you see and be able to improve on it.

Yeah sorry one of those increment bars. Seam, cutters etc can stay as high as you wish.

Oh and have a go with drift set to zero for spinners, you can still get drift by bowling the drift deliveries, this has also worked wonders and you may well get one of those through the gate dismissals.

Cheers for this, will be interesting what others find. Just curious, as to what scores you were rolling the AI out for?

Well somebody forgot to tell the West Indies they couldn't bat in this game!!

But this just highlights the issue we were saying.

West Indies 557/10 after 171 Overs.

As far as the game goes regardless of the repetitive strain injury to the fingers, its so pleasing to see the AI fight back and bat slowly and literally bat me out of the game.

Also 8 wickets from their two innings were caught behind the stumps.

But... although two edges to the keeper in the second dig, that was the only time the ball caught the edge of the bat in 171 overs!!!!

Countless plays and misses but only twice did the ball find the edge!

Last couple of weeks I appear to have completely lost the ability to score runs with left handed batsmen.

Always did slightly better with righties but could get by with the left handers... But right now placement and timing just totally off

I seem to be getting RSI in my left hand due to spin bowling! I guess that's what happens after playing almost 20 hours in 3 days!! To answer your question Wealey far less than 500, around 200 ish.

Going to have a tinker with your stat suggestions on veteran and see what happens. There must be someway in which to get the batsmen edging the ball more. Not necessarily always to get out but just not always middling it.

Suddenly finding most of my hook/pull shots coming out as cuts... Not sure why my thumb seems to be moving correctly

Is this accruing on a Playstation controller?
