I've always expected the PC version to come well after the console release... That's benefiting from common sense.

The release date was planned for October before Ashes shit the bed. I've been wrong numerous times regarding the release date... as has everyone else in the forum. No idea what your point is.

Just a quick mention that I'm not sure re. the "the platform holders require a two month delay on digital if you are releasing at retail" mentioned by the Dev team because I see games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, Tomb Raider etc. released almost simultaneously.

Perhaps it is specific to a platform holder rather than a general one.

Whatever the reasoning is, PC delays are almost always done to off-set the money lost when the game is pirated. Regardless of what the talking heads in marketing will tell you ("Game Optimization") it's done so consoles sell well, and strong and they front-load the sales for legit purchases, keeps companies like EB Games in the business with exclusivity deals, store-traffic and those exclusive to PC gaming just get the shaft. It's been happening for years, it makes total commercial sense but sucks if you have zero interest in consoles or one of those weird people that only buy Mac products because, Science.

Or whatever...

Storm in a teacup, PC delay only hurts a small selection of the overall community here, I would confidently say 60% of which were getting the game for both console and PC anyway. 30% will pirate it on PC and the other 10% won't bother because they're children...

The only legitimate grievance anyone has with this news is if you're in a financial position that only allows you to select one platform for purchase. If you fit into that minority then I strongly advise you wait for reviews and make an informed decision before parting with your money, regardless of how good the game currently looks and feels.

It's a very specific rule that only the big guys can bend.

You're not alone at all... when the dev gets it wrong what chance has anyone else got?

Point of fact; The whole PlanetCricket pissing contest on who predicts what when and were they right, died a slow painful death in early September...

I bet that costs a arm and a leg Ross. After a few calls this morning telling some pc friends about the delay of the pc version all is good. Sure they were not happy at the start but that's life. It's the right move as simple as that.

PS Ross, how hard is steam to get working and they do send DVD. I don't know much about steam as the only game I played on steam was Ashes 2013:facepalm I hope your game is more than $20 dude.:clap

This stuff is something I can't figure out. On one hand we keep on moaning about the fact we never get a good cricket video game. And finally when a decent game comes along, at least based on what we've seen so far, we suddenly don't even want to shell out a few bucks to buy that game?

If we are not going to back the publisher who's trying to develop a cricket game against all odds, why complain about the lack of cricket games? Even if the game has a few things that need to be worked on, I would expect the PCers to back the title in the hope that Big Ant will be able to make DBC a long running franchise. But that is unlikely to happen when we don't put our money where our mouth is.
I hope the game makes enough money to turn this into a successful series of quality games, however I'm going to base my decision on whether it will provide me decent entertainment at reasonable value.

Considering that you can pretty much always get a game on Steam for ?15-20 or so that is a top quality game with plenty of longevity, with the signs pointing towards this being ?30+, it's going to have to be something special to warrant a purchase at that price for me. Hopefully it would end up in a sale at some point, but that may be unlikely given Ross has said Big Ant games don't really go down in price.

I'm not going to buy the game out of charity to fund the future development of the series for the sake of it, it needs to be a quality game, and the recent comment by Ross that mention them having developed a PC version of a previous title and not released it makes me more cautious to support these devs, considering that this could be a potential future for the franchise.

It's been a strange year Biggs that's for sure. PS England have to find a new coach, saw that coming a mile away.

People spend there money on strange things these days Madman, my view is I will support any cricket game and as this is the only cricket game releasing anytime soon then a steam price of say $70 Aus is fine with me.

I don't expect charity and would never ask for it. In my opinion this is the best Cricket game made so far and I expect it to sell on that basis.

That's a self-fulfilling prophecy right there. If the PC version sells poorly there wont be another one.

What it also indicates is what a knife-edge decision it is as to whether PC gets released or not for any title, we have a perfectly good title that will never be released on PC, that's devastating for the people that worked on it.

Great post, and I think if you fall into this kinda category then doing exactly what you're talking about, being cautious, is the best approach to anyone who fits your bill. I will say, though... that Cricket games are few and far between and the release of a PC title, is more a nod to this very communities existence and the members, like me (and others) that bring further life and longevity to older games by modding them. I think it's less about being "charitable" in purchasing the PC version and more about making an informed decision on whether or not the game is good? and then whether or not you will want to, now or in the future, delve into modding the game as they become available.

If you're a PC gamer and at all on the fence, make an informed decision in early April when the game is out on consoles, people have played it and go from there. Hire it from a video store and play it for an afternoon or wait for reviews from people like Matt who have a proven track record of consistent, detailed, informed opinion and someone who is a specialist in Cricket games.

? Most of us have already made up our minds on that.

I thought you would say that ross, PC versions are in deep trouble. I will buy the pc version and I bet it's better than the console versions anyway.:thumbs

The PC version will have more dev time and we will support modders with detailed information and source code if needed.

It may almost become an entirely different game depending on what you guys do with it.

Ross fair play for taking the backlash and fronting the flak, its worlds away from how the "other "guys dealt with their "game". as you mentioned that end of march is the latest it will release, do you worry that people may take that as "but it still might come next week" followed by "he didnt say it wouldn't come before 31/3/14 and he's let us down" etc, unfortunately I can still see this thread being filled with people trying to read between the lines or make shit up, do you worry that these kinda posts/trolls on here and facebook/twitter could harm the marketing campaign by yet again by connecting you to the other Melbourne studio? And is there anything you could do to avoid it
