Don Bradman Cricket 17 - Cover Revealed!

Not a fan of the cover or logo to be honest, I guess there's not much point going into too much detail on why, as by now they must be the final designs. I just hope that people don't see it on the shelf and it puts them off...

For myself and the rest of us getting the game by digital download, I suppose it doesn't matter anyway - we won't see the cover and the logo will only be on the loading screen. I just hope the game does well and think this is a backwards step from DBC14.

Lets put a poll on cover and logo lol:D

Colourful and classy cover I must say. It is quite attractive and better than the DBC14 cover. The only thing that makes this cover a little awkward is the font used in that text of DBC17. Text could've been more better and syncing with the bg.

Although, it doesn't really matter. We play the game and not just watch the cover. DB franchise is way more popular and people who know about it or own the prequel will surely go for this sequel irrespective of game covers.

Really you could’ve had a supercool Don Bradman logo right dead centre in the middle showcasing the possibilities of the logo creator. Either side of the logo to your left a female cricketer to your right a male cricketer. Both characters are fictional badass maybe one has a tattoo with arms folded, these would both be surrounded in a flame effect. Also behind in the background is a stadium with one half of the stadium full then the other half is under construction cranes etc…

The game cover is definitely a missed opportunity it doesn’t catch my eye in the slightest would strongly suggest a redo, sorry.:(

I think the cover is nice, its eye catching and creates a nice atmosphere. Only thing I'd change is the Don Bradman text logo. Just doesn't look like it fits in.

Much too light red but maybe its an effect of the light shining on it?

I can't say I've noticed but then I don't have the settings up high.

Ahh I see what you mean now bud. Yeah a little maybe but certainly not outside what you'd expect. i think generally the Aussie balls aren't as dark as ours ( queue innuendos ) although it's not a big difference. The thing that bugs me most about it is the specks of grass around the ball. That said, I'm well past the point where i could be turned off buying the game. The academy alone is worth the price.

Average consumer reaction: "oh look, a cricket video game"

PlanetCricket reader reaction: "how many stitches are on that ball?"

I would suggest tempering the reactions slightly, especially when you're already heavily interested/invested in the product.

I meant on the cover image in the OP. Looks too light red to me

What are your brightness/contrast settings at? what graphics are your running? can you take a screenshot and attach it here? :p

Goes without saying but at this point it should be said, us diehards are already in, this cover isn't for us, its for the random joes who decide to wonder in to an eb and are keen for some hot cricket action.

I don't understand some of the over the top reactions on this... Most if not all of us here are buying this anyway reguardless of the cover.. Could have been Warner burning a UK flag I'd still be buying it lol. At the end of the day the cover is to be eye-catching to the new consumers... it is and i'm sure it will get the job done. Now lets be less nitpicky please people :) Positivity is always nice.. after all the games not even out yet!!!

I’m perfectly aware that I am not the target audience for this cover… as mentioned my custom is assured (and would be on PC anyway so via steam).

But a simple thought experiment can put me in the shoes of someone who is a target for the cover:

Tennis is a game I’m superficially aware of, would watch if it is on tv but wouldn’t seek out, I know if one of the grand slams are on, know some of the major stars etc. I am not going to seek out a tennis game but could be persuaded to buy one…

Take that cover, replace the stumps and cricket ball with a racket and tennis ball. Make it a tennis court in the back ground and a generic non-identifiable tennis player celebrating a point… call Fred Perry Cricket 17 in that font…

Would I buy it/be attracted to it? Not sure I would.

What would be my expectation? A fast-paced if simple “frothy” tennis game, that covers the basics in an arcadey fashion, and may not have huge amounts of complexity. My question is – we know there is tons of depth and complexity in the game, but are there these simpler elements and modes too to cater for those who are drawn in by the box? Or will it lead to lots of 2nd hand DBC17s in the Game stores where people bought it but couldn’t get to grips with it?
