Don Bradman Cricket in the Press

All I did was say that a guy's an idiot because he commented on a game he had never played (calling it terrible) and they tell me to watch my language.

Precious and serious about what is a hilarious video, I didn't kick up that they took the piss out of our game but I got banned for using the word idiot.... I wish the worst thing that anyone had called me was "idiot".

PS: @MattW language on video is a lot stronger than "idiot".

I think that video was a pathetic attempt at being funny, hate that guys girly giggle, you should give him toaster time for twisting the don so much.

Watching that video, I'd have been intensely offended at the disrespect if it weren't for the fact I had tears rolling down my face as I was laughing at the same time. They clearly never intended to take the game seriously (I don't watch the series, but I presume they do this with every game). I suppose the only bad thing really is that some people will believe them.

I did have many moments where I did not feel great about the disrespect to Don Bradman.

If you take the video in the context that they are just going to take the piss for 45 minutes and let go then it's a very funny video.

Being banned from commenting for using the word "idiot" though - seriously Hyper-Politically Correct and somewhat hypocritical stance right there.

I'm actually in conversations with mod's over there where they are requesting I don't use such language again and they might restore my account.

****ers don't understand that I don't normally use kind words like "idiot" - that'll teach me to tone it down and play nice.

Just describe people as FILTH

Well it all started with this, which because of the video (swearing) I thought it must have been a joke but then I was banned! (I think Filth would be worse, mega-ban)

"@rossatbigant said: @trelution: They didn't say the game was terrible. Idiot.

Watch your language, please."

update: promised to not use language such as "idiot" again and account was restored.

I found that video great.

I really think the game should have some popup control instructions - even if they only appear once you're getting it wrong, just to try and make that initial pickup and play easier. Obviously they got the hang of most of it by the end, but occasional contextual controls would have made it more accessible.

As I've said a few times about playing online against Biggs - you laugh with DBC14 rather than laugh at it - and I think the video highlights that.

Hi. I have seen Ross's posts on this forum.

Problem is, this forum isn't another forum. And even if it wasn't you still have to be careful when posting as a representative of a company.

You guys "get it" but posting on an American website about a sport that the audience doesn't understand, the hosts included, is a completely different kettle of fish. And I made that point in following tweets as well.

I meant that more as a 'it gets worse' comment than thinking you were missing the point or something - I'm sure the Tru Blu guys have a heart attack when they see what Ross posts here. But in the context of this site, massively refreshing to have an open and honest developer communicating.

I also didn't make the connection to your account on here - cheers for all the mentions we get on games.on.net.

"Filth" is the go-to around these parts, amiright, Snowy?

EDIT:

That Giant Bomb Video is hilarious, the first 4 - 5mins is nothing but loading screen entertainment. So good.

Not recommended for kids or any humorless folks.

I think it's over the top to have fifty ****s and a "that's tweaking stupid" in a video yet ban me for using the word "idiot" in a post that has a :p in it. Some people are way to tweaking precious, and in this case hypocritical.

It's about dishing it and copping it, you say my game's terrible without playing it, I say you're an idiot. I think that's a reasonably measured response and the guy who dished it but couldn't cop it needs to have a good hard look in the mirror rather than go about trying to get me banned.

Anyway, as to whether it's a good idea or not for a developer or representative to call someone out is a different matter. There is an incredible "customer is always right" imbalance on the internet where people use the net to say whatever they like but think it outrageous if they get some back at them.

Side note - you know what's more fun than randomly moving Don Bradman's head around - doing that on a cinema screen. There might just be a photo somewhere...
