Don Bradman Cricket in the Press

The audio score must have taken it down, at least that's how it looks to me.

edit: Actually 38 / 5 doesn't equal 7.2 so I have no idea...

I like that they've used the press shots from the DBC14 release - including not being able to crop out the Cricket 14 part of the logo on them.

Considering they've marked the audio down SO strongly, you'd have thought that they would have mentioned it in the review. Which they don't. So they must not have considered it important enough to affect their judgment. So why score it at all...?

Grumble grumble stupid numbers grumble.

They come across brilliantly here: everything that you want to hear from a F2P developer (well, unless you're a VC!): Crossy Road: The freemium game that really doesn't want more of your money | GamesIndustry.biz

Well Matt's sponsoring the Aussie party at GDC next week so they're spending their money the right way :) His goal when he left Big Ant was to earn as much doing Mobile as he was earning with me, I think he probably got there with Game#1 - he's released six games and had four #1's

You'd be happy with the rating in this review, not a number, the game's rated "Nom Nom Nom"

I *would*. But then you have a "IF WE *HAD* TO GIVE IT A NUMERICAL SCORE"? Oh guys...

Good Lazygamer review: Don Bradman Cricket 14 Reviewed… again | Lazygamer .:: The Worlds Best Video Game News ::.

Nothing really of note, as it's largely an upgraded review for an upgraded game! There's one very odd bit in there though, which I'll offer no prize for spotting.
Also interested to see that they "scored" a copy of the game. Suggesting that maybe there's some movement on the "no review code" policy which I think is a very good thing if so.

For some reason there was no press-pack sent out in the UK via the usual channel for the PS4/XB1 release. Until yesterday, when they released 5 new (I think) screenshots and the 2 packshots, but with no new written information about the game.
Good it's finally there: word of mouth works. My colleague saw it and told me about it because he knew I was into cricket games! Hopefully that will be happening elsewhere too!

I'd have thought the screen sharing stuff in the new consoles is reason enough just to take your own screenshots of the game for articles about it. I suppose they reviewed it on Xbox One that doesn't have screenshot functionality directly, but saving a video and taking some stills is better than using old-gen press shots.

That said - I wish they'd have a proper website for it - Tru Blu's site has a news article, but the rest of it is stuck 3 years ago - when AFL Live on PC was 'coming soon'. Funbox's site is at least last year, with DBC14 for 360/PS3 on the front page. Big Ant own DonBradmanCricket.com - but it redirects to this single page about DBC14, with just that old feature list and no screenshots.

There's SO much work involved: You need a huge operation in order to keep all the plates spinning. I can't remember how many people were credited on the publishing end of, say, Ashes 09, but it took a HUGE team to manage all those bits and pieces. PLUS we then had people in different territories (although I think only Aus, NZ and SA for Cricket) making sure that all of those things were reflected in the different territories. There must have been over a hundred people involved on the publishing side alone.
It takes a massive investment to pull it all off and this is a much smaller publisher
This is also their first cricket game: I'm sure that this iteration is being considered a steep learning curve. I expect things will become easier as time goes on.

It would interesting to explore whether it's something the community would be willing to help with: things like creating assets, adding to a database of issues (such as what they see in public that is wrong as er your examples)... AFAIK although the community is often used for beta-testing etc of the game itself, maybe it could be leverage to aid the resource issues in terms of the publishing, as well as development...
