For the hawkeye i go back to windows after every ball and put it in so im not just taking a punt on where every ball went. Slats spell is still going Suren dar so a hat trick could be on the cards.....probably not.

Victorian Bushrangers Vs New Zealand

They run rate required is getting smaller for the kiwis and with 8 wickets still in hand out chances of winning are about as good as that stupid smile on the face of Scott Styris?s face winning worlds best looking male. Which are very small incase your wondering.

Jon Moss also came up with a good over of his own to bring us to the 40 over mark with a slight chance of winning by not letting the New Zealanders hit out. Cameron White has taken me off to give the next few valuable overs to Shane Harwood and then it will be up to me to bowl at the death in the last 5 overs.

New Zealand 2/196
Run Rate ? 4.90
Projected Total - 245

40 overs

Astle 73(118)*
Styris 1(10)*

Lewis 1/69 (10)
Harwood 0/38 (8)
White 0/39 (9)
Wise 0/27 (6)
Slatter 0/21 (5)
Moss 1/1 (2)

New Zealand require 53 runs to win at 5.30 an over

Econmical spell from Slatter. Small chance of winning for the Victorians.

Nice work with the story Short Leg. Excellent stuff. Loving the presentation. Bushrangers need to start to get wickets to win! Cmon Slatter

With Shane Harwood on it?s safe to ay that whoever comes out on top of these next 5 overs will have a big chance of winning the match. Anything can happen in one-day cricket and even the international sides aren?t guaranteed a win on any soil. Nathan Astle must take responsibility for the kiwis here as he is in the best touch with the willow.

Alot of the Victorian hopes rely on
Shane Harwood in these next few overs

Another right move by Cameron White this time to bring Shane Harwood on worked quickly with him picking up the wicket of Astle caught behind for 73. The spirit of the Bushrangers lifted as everyone now began to believe we are in with a red hot go at winning. It was then Styris and Oram flying the flag for the New Zealanders with the match in the balance before Harwood picked up two this time it was Oram clean bowled for just a quick 18 from 10 to bring the score to 4/222 as the MCG crowd shifted to the edge of their seat. More stumps went flying the over after Brad Hodge was brought into the attack a trump card. Allan Wise got the scalp of Styris for 14 off 24 to make it 5/229 and a very interesting ball game.

The wicket of Styris gives Victoria a sniff

Although wickets fell the kiwis managed to keep up and even in front of with the required run rate which is the luxury a team with wickets in hand going into the last 60 balls can have. Cameron White has signaled to me that it?s my turn to come back into the attack as all his front line bowlers are out of overs. Can Slats protect the Victorians runs for the final 30 balls or will the power of the New Zealanders be to strong? Im sure the Australian selectors at the ground will be very interested in this result.

New Zealand 5/229
Run Rate ? 5.08
Projected Total - 254

45 overs

Marshall 2(3)*
McCullum 0(1)*

Lewis 1/69 (10)
Harwood 2/56 (10)
White 0/39 (9)
Wise 1/31 (7)
Slatter 0/21 (5)
Moss 1/1 (2)
Hodge 0/11(2)

New Zealand require 20 runs to win with 30 balls remaining

Very close by .03 an over Keep em under your runrate :D Good Luck. CMON Slatter step up to glory

Thanks for the comments Brett Lee and Leftie. Yeah a wicket wouldn't go down to badly right now becuase it's getting pretty tight.

With just 20 runs required for the kiwis to walk out with the win that is expected of them by their countryman dot balls are essential for us. If we can get runs and balls left even we are in with a chance but it may be easier said then done because even a single boundary can kill any hope we have of winning.

A controvercial first ball that sore an attempted fine late cut go past and possible clip the edge which Channel 9?s snickometer seemed to think there was. It?s these kinds of things that you need to go your way in a come from behind win like this maybe this is a sign of things to come.

Allan Wise took up the attack and also walked away with a clean over that didn?t result in anything over a single which is exactly what is require now as this match gets down to the last 18 balls but yet the kiwis are still big favourites with runs required in front of balls remaining.

The Victorians really need a wicket now for any hope to remain as Marshall and McCullum begin to get comfortable pushing singles which may mean the field needs to come up and hopefully draw a false stroke from the New Zealanders. Daniel Vettori is the next man padded up in the pavilion and even though this may just be a toutr game he will be nervous with the match going down to the wire.

New Zealand 5/238
Run Rate ? 5.06
Projected Total ? 253

47 overs

Marshall 6(10)*
McCullum 4(6)*

Lewis 1/69 (10)
Harwood 2/56 (10)
White 0/39 (9)
Wise 1/35 (8)
Slatter 0/25 (6)
Moss 1/1 (2)
Hodge 0/11(2)

New Zealand require 11 runs to win with 18 balls remaining

What a match for a West Australian! Victoria V Kiwis :p

Hope the Vics can produce some sort of inspiring performance to win (Could never go for NZ unless they were playing England :D )

What some thought needed to be a miracle is in the palm of Slatter?s hands needing to protect the boundary and dot the batsman up as well remembering that this isn?t a state he is up against it?s a whole country. So little runs to protect means that the kiwis can do it in singles as they wish whilst the Victorians still have men protecting the boundaries as they have little choice to do anything different. One shot over the top will pretty much do it for New Zealand.

The McCullum boundary makes a massive pressure release and brings all the Victorians inside the circle to save runs but it was never going to happen for two overs and it didn?t even happen for 2 balls. A deserving win for the kiwis who fought hard but were pushed by the Victorians that even had control of the match at times.

Although there are no prizes for winning the kiwis go into the VB Series with a confidence they didn?t have in the test series. They will need to play even better cricket then they did today to match it with Australia and Sri Lanka but at leased now they know they are capable of it. Experience at the end of the day won it for the kiwis who knew exactly what it would take to get the runs and they did it ahead of time Victoria on the other hand have learned the lesson of what it takes to play at the top level and if they are good enough to one day make it there. The question is who have the Australian selectors at the game had their eye on?

Unlucky Slats. You'll get them next time. Unfortunately I don't think the Australia A Selectors will pick you, unless there is a twist in the tale.

Playing under Brad Haddin. That would be so cool. Anyway, why did you bowl Lewis out? I would rather Darren Lehmann bowl the last over.

I didn't bowl Lewis out it was the computer. A pretty stupid idea i know but what are ya gonna do? The Australia A tour is near the end of the season and Slats isn't to far behind the leading run scorers in the ING Cup but he's a couple of hundred behind Matthew Elliott and Jimmy Maher who are leading in the Pura Cup.
