Eden Garden Kolkata misses out on World Cup match

LOL @ apology gift bags. Hahah. What are they going to put in it? Laddoos and barfis? Or maybe some rasagullas since it was from Kolkata.
I was worried about curries, was gonna say " AND NO CURRIES!" And now add those things to the list as well. :p Don't give them ideas!

And which are these two grounds ? I am betting you would be referring to your Bangladeshi grounds?
My Bangladeshi grounds? I didn't know I owned them but ok...

Go read Yudi's post, right above mine.

I seriously am happy that BCCI are owned:cheers!

The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium at Hyderabad is a brand new stadium, which has hosted few historic games. We could have been given a chance to host few games of ICC CWC. In all ways, the stadium is fit to host World Cup matches.

Eden Gardens has history, but who cares, when the total stadium is down for renovation and the construction is not in time.

Hyderabad doesn't come in the picture at all. I don't think the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is hosting any match and so asking them to host this one wouldn't have been a smart choice, as they won't be prepared for it.

The decision of choosing Bangalore looks fair to me.

The viewing experience at Eden isn't all that bad either. I've been there thrice and I can safely say that it could have pulled off a successful World Cup even without the renovations which have, ironically, further worsened the condition of the stadium instead of improving it.
The viewing conditions may be good for an Indian stadium but they are no where near world class (as is the case with almost all Indian stadiums). I'm definitely hoping that the WC has improved the standards at most of the stadiums.

The few times I've gone to a match I've felt almost like a prisoner. The seats are built to fit a toddler and there are almost no amenities within the stadium.

^ Ya, none of the subcon. stadiums are no where near close to INT standards. I've also noticed by looking at some of the pictures, the seats are wayyyy too close to each other, and way too small. Not to mention the brownness, and dead patches around some of the grounds.

I don't know about the rest of the WC grounds, but I've heard Dhaka stadium's capacity got shrunk to 25k from 35-40k after they installed seats in ICC order. Shows how cramped up they were before.

I din't say that Hyderabad should get that match alone. Even I know that its idiotic thought, whomsoever gets it, cause just for one match, a stadium has to be prepared with all the uniform ad Boards stuff, LED screen, blah.. blah..

I'm saying that Hyderabad could have been safer choice when selecting the venues for ICC Cricket World Cup.

And yeah, I'm going to Bengaluru to watch India v England :D.
