England in Australia

I unexpectedly watched the afternoon and evening sessions live because I woke up at 2.30am and I was having problems sleeping. The play I saw was by far the best from England in the test so far, I would feel a whole lot better if Paul Collingwood was still in though. He didn't need to come down the wicket like that.

I can't believe the Barmy Army would complain about Aussies singing offensive songs unless they were overtly racist or something. Do you have a link to a story about it?
Someone obviously passed on my comments about Collingwood's batting to him and he pulled his finger out. All it does imo though is show that this is still a good pitch and put into perspective how bad our first innings was.
Draw prospects: zero without rain, 50;50 with rain from lunch onwards.

I have a feeling that England will lose an early wicket tomorrow giving Australia's bowlers momentum and the tail end will be in. I am positive Australia will win comfortably.

England being England will probably make a better fist of it if there is no rain at all, as opposed to there being two sessions rained out.

Well batted KP and Colly though, althought the latter really should have kicked on for a biggy.

you cant blame him though evo, they had a game plan which was working, that being attack warne. To be honest, he did extremely well to get to 96 considering all the conditions

Oh absolutley, the four less runs does't make me think any worse of his innings. It was by far England's best knock of the tour so far, but I just think his shot was a bit lazy and tired, understandable, but I don't think he should have done it. Nevertheless, he did it and now it's up to KP and Jones and it's time for Giles to do what he's in the squad for. England need a mammoth performance tomorrow.

As long as they try and bat it out and don't mindlessely slog, they have a slight chance with the rain. Geraint Jones it is time to step up to the plate and get a hundred.

Agreed. But we musn't just defend every ball, we have to remain positive. Sooner or later there is a ball with the batsman's name on it so we have to score runs before we get out; At least it will lower our eventual defeat margin somewhat.

Lets not get picky here, the Barmy Army aren't being treated by dirt alone, every fan in the ground is being treated like rubbish, it's a disgrace.

But they're complaining because our fans are singing offensive songs. That's weak and hypocritical coming from them. They didn't seem to mind giving us crap last year when they were winning, but suddenly the tables have turned and they can't hack it...

Do you know what these songs are?

Could they be the repeat of the songs sung about Monty?

Don't comment on them if you don't know what the song is.

That's not too bad a thought actually. Throw Colly into the keepers gloves and have Vaughan in :D

I disagree. 2 of them we don't really know because we havn't seen them and the other a few years back was the best bowler in the world.

Hoggard's form seems to be on the decline lately. He is under-prepared. It will be interesting to see if he improves by the time the 5th match comes along.

A few years back? :D

Hoggy like all the bowlers are undercooked. Tait and Johnson are good prospects but who would you pick? The one with 220 wickets or a noob?

Oh we will, I'll start the campaign! Hes a great batsmen but his captaincy is way too defensive sometimes. Anyway hopefully all goes well and we don't have to get to that stage.

2 slips and a gully when we are chasing 648 in the 4th innings? :D You said it sly.

If England survive a session tommorrow and take it till about mid-way second session, it should give them some confidence coming into test 2. If they can do what Lanka did to them, they could be in with more momentum than Australia into the second test...

But England won that second Test against Lanka. :p

I meant the batting on for ages part. Regardless of the result, it must have been a boost for Sri Lanks...

What exactly are you upbeat about as far as England go?

Because if Ponting would have enforced the follow on, the game would have been over before lunch on the 4th day. He has given us a chance, and we English would love to make him pay.

Mate, you really ain't got a clue. The England fans are only complaining because our trumpet player got ejected from the ground, which is an absolute disgrace.

For you to think we are bothered by your simply embarassing chants of "aussie aussie aussie" and "warneyyyyy" is pathetic. "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" now that's what the English should be singing at the aussies.
