England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

Well yeah, England aren't playing the spin well (big shock) but this was predictable the moment the coin came down that way. The little bit of spin on Day one has turned into a fair amount on day two and Ashwin and co know that they can just toss it up as slow as they like, because it will turn and bounce for them. If it makes day 5, this pitch will be a minefield for the spinners. Even those pies that Yuvraj bowls will probably turn square on the second bounce. :D

I just wish we'd learn the lesson and play some players who are aggressive in county cricket against spin.

that's another reason why 2 spinners are important, india are going to get through overs much faster than england, they're going to spend less time baking in the field and get back in quicker than they would if they'd toiled away with 3 seamers all day.

Eagerly waiting for KP aggression against indian spin. He is a top class batsman. He will be key for england .Next bet is on Cook. Test cricket at its best. Tough challenge for england.

Match seems destined for a draw unless England capitulate to the the sub-par Indian spinners!

This is our tradition
I would have said traditionally more Indian wickets offered bounce and turn. It's not traditional for India to average 450 in the first innings. That is a modern trend. In the last 5 years, India has made 400+ in nearly 3 quarters of its first innings at home, not to mention a huge number of 600+ scores. However, in the 20 years before that, most of India's first innings scores were below 400. In the late 90s, a lot of the time India were bowled out for less than 300; they still only lost a few games, but the cricket was undoubtedly more thrilling.

I mean when you see the ball doing this on DAY 2, alarm bells should ring. It's not turning and the ball can barely make it down the other end.

I can show you backyards that prepare better Test wickets for spinners.

LOL WTF is happening? KP and Dhoni are having no clue where the ball is going.

Where is Yadav? :D

Ojhaaa, my goodness, middle stump on KP, bravo son! :clap

Bell? :lol

Haha! Have some of that!

Colin did predict this.

KP didn't even get a chance to showcase his switch hit and have bowlers everywhere whinging and being allowed to do cartwheels and whatever else during their run up.

Lol Bell.

India getting 400 + is largely due to Sehwag, if you could pull up the stats you would see what I mean. I don't think it has got anything to do with the pitches. We also never won outside India in the 90's, we just were not as a good team back then.

Pitches are being relayed too often, they want green pitches for domestic games and turning ones for International matches, perhaps that is having an effect to some extent on the quality.

On the bright side for England, Samit looks solid.

Right as I say that, big appeal against Samit, looked plumb too...

England are in a major soup..... AS EXPECTED!:D Ashwin seems to be getting very decent bounce off a 'so-called dead' pitch. India need to wrap this up quickly.

No tweaking way, that was fairly simple. Poor effort.

Lmfao, full toss on leg stump and Prior finds the only man in the deep, only that man is Zaheer, who can't catch for ----.

Haha, on your bike, Samit. There's no DRS here.
