England in New Zealand

Cook is in easily, his performances in the tour games made that obvious. He's just not a T20 player though. Who to drop? I think Wright could be dropped, but then he can have a huge impact at the end of games (He normally drops down in ODis, opens in T20). I could see Broad being dropped too. You can use medium pacers effectively in New Zealand.

It's a tough choice, Cook has to play though. Good form.

Broad dropped instead of Wright? I don't think so SS. ;)

Mascarenhas coud replace Bopara in the ODI's as well since he bowls more overs.

I would like to see England keep Ian Bell at number 4 in the ODI's since that is a much better postion since it separates Cook and Bell are more nurdlers of a ball. KP proved what he can do when he can get in the fielding restrictions.

So team for tomorrow.

Mustard
Cook
Bell
KP
Colly
Shah
Wright
Mascarenhas
Swann
Sidebottom
Anderson

Think that's about right...

But then Broad did average under 20 in Sri Lanka, maybe we don't need the spinner?

kiwis really need to perform well if they have to entertain thoughts of competing ,they need bond......

We don't just need Bond, we need a complete overhaul of the entire team. Black Caps peaked when we beat undermanned Aussies in the series last year, and it's been on a slippery slope ever since.

Once the 'peaked' players decided to retire one after the other, the hanger-ons became exposed.

Kyle Mills, Chris Martin, Scott Styris are the only three seniors in this 20 20 side and I have to say I am embarassed they were part of Flemings' team. Without Fleming to set the fields and tell them how to bowl, they just bowl pies.

Daniel Vettori and Jacob Oram will probably have to do a lot of the face-saving antics down the order and Vettori with his bowling.

It seems so.
Fleming had a great command of the game and controlled it well.

Under Fleming, you had Nathan Astle,Craig McMillan and Chris Cairns who were capable of leadership. The 3 that you have mentioned here were rarely a part of the squad, though not so much Scottie.

The Kiwis will go through a learning phase now and its time for building up a team.

Wright ahead of Broad? I disagree. Drop Wright for Broad. And that'll prolly be the team.

For me personally (and that won't happen):

Bell
Cook
Pieterson
Colly
Shah
Mustard
Mascarenhas
Swann
Broad
Sidebottom
Anderson

Well the line-up is wrong there but i'll say that'll be the team tomorrow.

Thats the point, if it wasn't for Sidebottom being class in that series no-one would question Broads place, Sri Lankas a tough place to go so to drop someone after they've had their best series ever there is harsh.

I don't know how everyone expects us to just walk this series, New Zealand are still a good ODI side who could have beaten South Africa in South Africa if it wasn't for Gibbs playing a great innings in the last ODI.

Mustard at 6 is a complete waste. His position is to open in ODIs.

I think its all upto now Daniel Vettori...he has to be strong leader..If they will take this easy then its gonna be 5-0 for england...England looks so strong in compare to KIWIZ...but still DANIEL has to give some confidense to HOW,TAYLOR,MILLS....but i don't think that will change serise result..

Mustard
Cook.
Bell.
Pietersen
Collingwood.
Shah.
Mascheranhas
Swann
Broad.
Sidebottom.
Anderson.

Dimi will be fine at 7, he may not be a good enough batter to hold that place alone, but backed up by having a very good 8 and 9 pair in Swann and Broad the weight of those 3 will hopefully match that of having a specialist batter at 7 and two bowlers to follow.

Yeh I completely agree with that lineup Animator. Mustard has to open to be effective otherwise he may as well not play. So just the 1 change with Cook coming back in for Wright which is how it should be. Cook has played very well in ODI's of late, with the India series and especially in Sri Lanka on tough pitches. I think that side would be able to overcome New Zealand quite comfortably from what I have seen of NZ so far...

our lower order is the best in the world in ODI's. from 7 to 9 we average 82, compared to Australias (from today) 64 or Indias 68 and they play a batsmen at 7 and all rounder at 8. Obviously the top orders rubbish but the rest is good.

ya I am also Totally agree.Specially because If you put Mustard on 6 or 7,its better to put R bopara there.Other point is Cook need some time to start his inings,If Mustard stay there he would take care of runrate so indirectly he'll take pressure out of cook and he can spend some time at crease.so far for england its best combination.
