its over england survive. but the winning streake comes to and end

We've known for a while that Strauss was flying home. Probably Cook will open with Tresco but I guess there's a chance that Vaughan will open.

It'll most likely be Collingwood coming in for Strauss unfortunately.

Freddie, KP and Jones save our arse.

What about Vaughan 2 and 0 and not great in the tour matches? he should be dropped ahead of strauss

got 9 and 2 iirc.

According to cricinfo and replays, YES!

38.2 Shoaib Akhtar to Giles, no run, short ball, down the leg side,
tries to play at it, looks like inner edge to keeper, shout for
caught behind, declinese, replay confirms that Gils nick that one

Another umpiring call goes the way of the english

Came off his body imo.

The commentators on Sky didn't dwell on it. And the Pakistani commentators would have.

Match ended in a pretty boring draw. Can we hope for a closer battle between bat and ball at Lahore?

Plenty of incentive for England to force a draw by winning the next match. If England lose they will drop from 119 to 113, whilst a draw would see them drop from 119 to 115.

Afridi is bowling balls of 80 MPH. :)

And not to forget Inzamam is off the field now. Younis Khan is now in charge.

He bowled one 80mph ball, impressive nonetheless mind.

Thats what makes Aus the world's best team. England have yet to prove that and thats why most people have been saying they aren't the world's best even though they beat Aus.

The ICC rankings are accurate imo, they reflect Cricket better than FIFAs represent the football world rankings.

Aus No. 1, we are Number 2 still i feel though.

Now this is honesty.

Sami got a low catch on the ground while he bowled. But he didn't act like Bell.

Oh get over it.

Akhtar is bowling unbelievably good. Vaughan is reeling there.

Now a huge appeal denied. Wow that was really close! I think Taufel would have given it.

Tight call remember it was at a time when the ball was swinging around like mad. i think it might have just swung past leg.

Inzy got a couple of close calls in his innings too.

Not only one ball. :laugh
Alright he bowled one at 77 you pedant :p :boxing

So you're searching all the negative comments about England and trying to prove all wrong now? :laugh

Full marks to Pakistani pacers for giving more than 100% on the 5th day no matter match turned out to be a draw.

For Lahore test, Asim Kamal is the most likely to take Afridi's(Since he is banned) place. Pakistan will loose a spinner in Afridi so its high time we bring in Mushtaq Ahmed in place of out of form Sami. What do you guys think on this?

A draw is a fair result, though I am a bit concerned with the fact that England never seem to get the opposition's tail out quickly. But I thought, we batted well on a day 5 wicket, and KP and Freddie especially did an exceptional job. Pakistan dominated the day though, and Inzamam played another crucial innings there. Well done by the home side overall.

Whats with this reality check? We beat the Aussies in the Ashes, and though that doesnt make us number one, we atleast know that we are probably the only team that is capable of defeating the World champions. This Ashes was the best test series I've ever seen, and the better team during that time won in the end. Now all we have to do is retain it next year in Australia, which imo will be a like a big final involving the top two teams in the world.

One thing is certain, England are definately no.2 in test matches, as we have not lost a test series against anyone since 2003. It'll be interesting to see how well Pakistan and India perform when they make their tours to England in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

A 1-1 draw will be a good result for England if they win the last test. But I think they need to win the toss and take the initiative. Batting last is always going to be difficult.

i can see australia winning the ashes 5-0 next year

lol, i'll drink to that!!

A hint from the England cap that Giles or Udal will make way for Plunkett or Anderson. Seems like a plan seeing as the seamers have taken 5 times as many wickets as the spinners thus far.

That is a ridiculous remark. This series will not determine how the ashes will go next year. They are completely different pitches and the teams are completely different. This was always going to be a tough series for england and they can only hope to improve on their batting in subcontinent pitches. Remember when Australia struggled in India in 2001??
remember when australia dominated india in 2004?
