England in Sri Lanka March-April 2011/12

Well I don't blame Bell for that but was it a doosra? ;)

----------

To be fair the difference between the teams is Jayawardene's innings.

Haha, no... it just turned ;)

Well, barely 50 overs batting and Sri Lanka will now get the chance to bat again on the pitch before it starts really breaking up.

Woeful performance so far, they let Sri Lanka escape in the field, and now have capitulated with the the bat again, for what is the 7th consecutive test innings.

Not good enough.

If I was Jimmy I'd go home, tell them to go bowl 90 overs themselves.

So... 3 bowlers next game?

----------

Also Samit coming in at 7 is a joke to me. If he's not a better batsman than Prior, why is he playing?

My attempt to get #bowlersstrike trending on twitter is failing fairly abjectly. Would be nice to see Strauss and Trott open the bowling so Jimmy and Broady can put their feet up.

Can't contribute any less than he has been Strauss.

Pretty sure Monty just took 3 steps down the pitch and drove for four through a wide mid-on.

Urgh, so even the tailenders can give it some tap..

Reverse the batting order. The bottom 4 actually looked quite good.

----------

Just on Bell though, his first 40 or so runs were brilliant, but then he got bogged down again like he did in the UAE and he's almost just waiting for a good enough ball to get him out then, rather than looking to be positive.

Am I the only person who feels Monty still looks like he's the 12 year old kid who's been called up to play in the adult team because someone phoned in sick in the morning. Just has a constant look on his face of "what an earth am I meant to do."

Oh well, his few runs nearly came close to making up for the 80 or so Jaya made after he dropped him twice.

Christ, did Monty steal your favourite toy or something? Give the guy a break. Yeah, he dropped a couple of catches, but things like that happen to everyone. He knows he's not the best fielder, but he tries to improve, which is more than most of the batsmen seem to have done recently. He's still a decent bowler, no matter how much you want to rag on him for not taking a wicket in the first innings.

Hmm, I love the "he tries to improve." It's not like he's 15 mate, this is international cricket. You can't carry anyone and bowling wise he really hasn't changed that much, just bowls the same ball over and over with no variation still.

He's not a sporstman, and fair enough he's done well to make it to County level, but he is not a Murali (better in the field and with the bat anyway) and he just doesn't bring anything.

Or course, he's not to blame for the batsmen, but if he could catch or looked threatening at any point (remember he's been outbowled by the opposition left-arm spinner in almost every innings since his comeback ;) ) we'd be within about 50 runs...
