England in Sri Lanka March-April 2011/12

8 overs of pace by Jayawardene? I realise you've gotta give the new ball a chance, but if you ask me, its just letting Strauss and Cook get in...

I'd have had a spinner on within an over or two against these two. It's worked all winter haha

You mean like Pakistan basically did? Loving that statistic. In 2012, 82% of England's wickets lost have been to spin...

Well this is boring :p Should be 5 down by now.

... and also slightly depressing that it's taken until the last test of the winter to get a start past 50.

Did Cook just go to 49 with a reverse sweep? Is it actually raining in Sri Lanka and I'm just watching some kind of highlights show. Surely we've batted for long enough now?

So 9 innings is apparently how many it takes before these guys adjust to different conditions...

So, who still thinks we should have been playing Monty? ;)

Haha, christ sake Strauss. Still not convincing at all. Just got lucky none of his previous edges actually carried. Sorry but he's hit a lot of 20's in this lean spell he's in, and a 61 isn't job done, merely what he should have been scoring at least while he isn't scoring hundreds.

So, after playing carefully Strauss decides to try and cut loose.. and loses his wicket.

Getting in only to get out is criminal, but if everyone else applies themselves as well or better then we should have a 1st innings lead.

Seems churlish with some of the feeble averages to be too harsh on Strauss since 26 is his lowest score in six innings and we should all be delighted if we get 4-5 fifties in this innings.

Or put another way, what if he'd flashed from the off and we'd been 20/1...............? He may not have played a match winning innings but he did his job and some.
