What the hell does Dawson have to do to get into the squad?! :facepalm

Smalling can play either right back or centre back so he probably just edges it for that reason. The problem with Dawson is that he is incredibly slow.

Is anyone else getting very worried about Hart? He made two terrible mistakes against Bayern the other night.

Nah he is not quick for sure, but certainly not "incredibly slow". Dawson has the same speed as Jaigelka really.

If he was, he would've been capped ages ago.

I've rated Osman ever since he almost single-handedly kept Derby in the Championship nearly a decade ago but Everton's always been his level.

I thought Hodgson might have persisted with Osman more since selecting him last November. His chances of going the Brazil presuming ENG qualify is still strong though once Everton has a good season.

Unless England plan on winning it with the oldest midfield in history or something.

Well that's the thing with Osman IMO. He fairly mobile for his age, not too far of what Cleverley or Henderson pace & he is a more complete player than then currently.

Why? English talent seems to be at an all-time low now, and he's had a great couple of seasons.

The FA isn't going to gain much if any plaudits for this controversial appointment.

'England can be painful to watch': Redknapp attacks FA ahead of vital qualifiers

Ha oh dear, this is going to be an interesting week now with Harry' book comments being revealed. Fact is although Hodgson is fine, Redknapp was really the better man to take over after Capello left.

BBC Sport - Harry Redknapp: FA bosses 'do not have a clue'

quote said:
Redknapp, who was manager of Tottenham when the decision was made, said he wanted Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers - then with Swansea City - to be his assistant.

"My thinking on Brendan was this: if he can do it with players from the lower leagues at Swansea what can he do with Rio and Terry or Rooney and Gerrard?" he added.

"So when Tottenham played Swansea on 1 April, 2012 I pulled Brendan after the game and said that if all the speculation about me and England was true would he consider coming to the European Championships in the summer as my part-time coach?

"I told him I wanted England to play with as much technical ambition as Swansea. He was up for it.

Given the way Liverpool have been playing under Rogers especially with the back 3 formation, something i think England have the players to copy, a Redknapp/Rogers coaching partnership for England would have been very interesting.
