Hodgson seemingly fond of Welbeck playing down that left-hand side. Strange one since he is obviously not happy playing their, even though he does a good job in the role.

I expect by time the Italy game, either Sterling or the The Ox will be picked in that role instead & the line-up is more of a 4-4-2 diamond.

Roy Hodgson said:
"Danny Welbeck has played a lot of games in this wide position. There's a lot of competition there and we want to see all of the players as much as possible. But we trust and believe in Danny Welbeck. He has always done well in an England shirt and deserves his place."

Slightly concerning pre-match statement from coach. Admittedly Welbeck put in a good shift again down the left, but I'm not convinced he should start in the role in today's formation.

We need at least 3 in mid-field, cause Gerrard in a 2-man mid-field, could get exposed if he looses the ball & that would be suicide versus the quality of Italy & Uruguay especially.

Not an amazing performance last night but we got the win and it should serve as a bit of a confidence booster but the real hard graft starts next week in Miami.

I really hope Welbeck doesn't start the next two friendlies on the left flank, I agree with you War that Sterling should play their instead but the Ox...really? He's proven that he's at his most effective playing down the middle.

Rooney looked really crap last night, It won't happen but i'd love to see either Barkley or The Ox play in that no. 10 role.

The Ox can play centrally or the flanks with equal competence though.
