i really want to rename this thread to "England national team thread: Officially worse than Wales!" but i'd probably get in trouble

i'm not sure whether wales being ranked ninth in the world show them as being very good or show the rankings as not being entirely accurate

They have gamed the rankings systems laudibly.

don't talk about the fourth best team in the world like that

I'm not kidding - if they calculated the rankings right now, Wales would be ranked fourth in the world

Have some reprieve. We've been talking about the elusive record for the last 3 years. Rooney finally has a half century of goals for England. Amazing record for a modern day football. :eng::clap [HASHTAG]#rooney50[/HASHTAG]

could've been 51. just saying...

FA may hit the road for future England friendlies

England could hold matches away from Wembley Stadium as early as next May
The FA has held high-level discussions over England playing some friendlies away from Wembley Stadium, Sky sources understand.

This change in policy could begin with two matches next May prior to the start of the European Championships.

It could also turn into a long-term arrangement with more prestigious games being played at Wembley and other friendlies taking place at grounds around the country.

As it currently stands, Wembley has a contract to host all England home matches, but that could change if Chelsea and Tottenham are successful in their attempts to use the stadium when their own grounds are being redeveloped.

Wayne Rooney became England's record goalscorer at Wembley earlier this month
England are planning on playing two warm-up games next May ahead of the finals in France. The exact dates and opponents will be confirmed after the Euro 2016 draw in Paris in December.

England have played all their home games at Wembley since a 1-0 defeat by Spain at Old Trafford in February 2007.

During the redevelopment of Wembley between 2001 and 2007, England played their home fixtures in grounds across the country. Old Trafford, St James' Park, Anfield, Villa Park and White Hart Lane were among the stadiums used during that six-year period.
