England Team Discussion

I feel sorry for y'all english supporters... your bowlers looked like the could give a shit out there. Broad and Woakes bowling 130-40 dibbly shot-pitch waist high bouncers to two guys on over a hundred in the 45th over is tantamount to match fixing. You guys got any young hungry bowlers coming up through the domestic scene? Because these guys all need the axe. Finn maybe gets it... maybe.
If we did find a young, exciting fast bowler our coaches would get to work coaching all the pace out of him so he turns into another medium pacer. Finn was bowling 90mph+ when he first came on the scene - look at him now! They have almost entirely changed his action.

England deserve what they are getting for leaving out their best player. I know who I would want batting 3 between KP and Ballance...

The real question is why are you drawing the tournament two bloody years before its supposed to take place; and before four of the teams have qualified for it
Because on that date, India were 3rd and Pakistan 6th - which ensured that they were in the same group and that there would be a lucrative match to sell. After that, India quickly moved to number one, and by the time they announced the groups, there would have been no India-Pakistan game.

Can't have that.

Why can't they just draw from a rigged hat like in football?

Separate em all into houses, India, England and Australia all end up in Slytherin

anyone concerned England will lose to Afghanistan?

so far i've thought their bowlers will trouble us but the their batsmen are nowhere near good enough; but it's a truth universally acknowlegded that the longer a bowler spends in direct contact with Saker the worse he gets. and we already have Jimmy "(Not) The best swing bowler in world" Anderson and Stuart "I know how many yorkers South Africa bowl but I can't take a wicket against Scotland" Broad chucking out more pies than a branch of Greggs, so with another almost 2 weeks of Saker's 'coaching' before they face Afghanistan, even their batsmen might be able to cope.

cant see AFG troubling ENG, should be smooth sailing to QF if it had been Ireland in the group things would have been different

they troubled sri lanka and sri lanka smashed us.

I think we would beat Ireland much more comfortably than Afghanistan, because the Irish seam attack is not good, especially with Murtagh injured. The Afghan seam attack is excellent, but their batsmen are poor; however the English side is bowling so badly it wouldn't surprise me for the Afghan's to cope better.

If you made a composite Afghan/Irish side, which would mostly be Irish batters and Afghan bowlers, that side would have a real chance of beating England on current form.

I can't see Afghanistan beating England, but I'm pretty sure Bangladesh will. Can see them getting a big score against our bowling and then their spinners causing havoc.

I wouldn't bet against Bangladesh beating us, they look better all round.

Afghanistan, I would like to think that it would be a stroll in the park but it's England. Anything can happen!!!

I'm expecting England to go out tonight. So time to move on. Was thinking about who is get rid of post WC and have come up with what I'd like to see for the NZ home series.

1. Ali
2. Hales
3. Taylor
4. Root
5. Stokes
6. Morgan
7. Buttler
8. Woakes
9. Bresnan
10. Tredwell
11. Rankin

12. Bopara
13. Vince
14. Topley
15. Jordan

Not changing too much. Just getting rid of the bowlers, who just don't get ODI cricket in my view. So Anderson, Broad and Finn are gone. The hope would be that Anderson and Broad can prolong their test careers by giving up limited over cricket. Finn is a real worry. Think he might still be OK as a short spell wicket taker in test cricket, but he goes for too many in one day games.

I'm also saying goodbye to Ian Bell. Too many pretty 40s. Never gone and scored big scores like he should have done.

I think Gary Ballance could come back and be a very good ODI player, but I think he should just concentrate on tests for next 12 months.
