England Tour Of Bangladesh 2010

i think he knows enough vocabulary then just 1 word, the word of the decade. But after India, they will have a 2nd thought on using any of those :p

Trust me Sehwag was never bright in English subject during school days.

Check out his autograph given to Yudi in his profile picture.

LOL at Strauss! Could you imagine if Ricky or Smith had done that? They would have to go into exile!

Your Jaded? you get payed too much to play cricket for less than 80 days a year. I would play for free. Man up.

So is Strauss being rested? Haven't been following English cricket for a while, but is the Cook captaincy permanent or just make-shift?

Smith did. He had 3 months off last year I think. Mickey Arthur was talking about it the other day saying that it didn't really work and the team missed him leading the team in his absence.

Strauss is being rested.

Cook is temporary captain for the ODI's against Pakistan and the tour of Bangladesh.

Strauss as captain should be playing in this series. You can't build a team without the captain.

Rashid shouldn't be dropped. He's been carrying round the drinks for the past two tours and hasn't played game hardly. We should have included three spinners on the trip, since two are most likely to play. Rashid is a much better bowler IMO than Tredwell and an offie and a leggie make a good combination.

He definetly is not a better bowler then Tredwell. He has the potential to be better, but at the moment Tredwell deserves that place as he has put in performance after performance for Kent and is easily the second best English spinner in county cricket.

I have to agree with Tom, Rashid definitely isn't the better bowler, he might offer the variation but Tredwell is much better, look at the trust Strauss had in Rashid when he played in the ODI's, there was little.

Don't agree. Rashid was seen as the future of English spin bowling a few months back, and after getting smacked about by Bosman and Smith in a T20 game has been just pushed aside. Tredwell's got no future with the English side I don't think, and is basically just a worse version of Swann, and that's proven by the fact he's only had 1 good season with the ball. I'd have wanted abit of variety in the spin attack, and Rashid would have provided that. How Shezhad got picked ahead of Rashid I don't know. What has he done? Strauss should have toured as well, ridiculous that Cook's captain. Last time he skippered on the field it was a shambles, he had no control whatsoever and was letting everyone else make his decisions for him. 1 last point, where the feck has Mark Davies gone? In the squad for the SA game, but just forgotten for this squad, how in gods name did Shezhad get picked ahead of him as well? Damn our selectors piss me off, how hard is it to pick the right bloody players?

The XI for this series should have been:

Andrew Strauss
Alistair Cook
Jonathan Trott
Kevin Pietersen
Paul Collingwood
Ian Bell
Matt Prior +
Stuart Broad
Graeme Swann
Adil Rashid
Graham Onions

Michael Carberry
Mark Davies
James Tredwell
Eoin Morgan
Steven Davies

Tredwell played in Division Two last year and picked up wickets against weaker batting teams.
Rashid played for a struggling Yorkshire team in Division 1 and bowled well.

Rashid has been on tours of India, West Indies and now South Africa and has not played when he could easily have done. He's had no chance to prove himself at all in that time.

He got a hiding to nothing in the Twenty20's and ODI's. He bowled at left-handers, who were hitting him with the spin to the shorter boundries on pitches that didn't help him.
He would have a much fairer time in Bangladesh, with the wickets turning.

Very well said. If there was ever a place to blood a young leg-spinner Bangladesh away is the perfect place? Just shows the idiocy of our selectors though. I thought they'd finally got their act together, but clearly not. Rashid should definitely have toured Bangladesh, just hoping he performs well for the Lions and gets himself there. Although it's harsh on Tredwell, an injury to him would be helpful too.

Smith wasn't rested. He had an tennis elbow injury that he got sorted, which had been bothering him for a long time. He certainly has never rested for a test series.
