I for one command the selection committee for taking this bold decision. Dropping 3 superstars is never easy. If Pakistan do well, they were not needed. If Pakistan lose, they ll atleast have no blame games.

I feel all 3 who are dropped needed this too, a closure that will allow them to get back into form for future. Plus all 3 have not set the world on fire in tests at all, so technically not a big loss.

I agree. Superstars are rarely dropped in the sub-continent. This decision might backfire- Pakistan may even lose by a huge margin, but the message ic clear- you don't perform, you are out.

but Stokes for Woakes was the expected option no?

It was expected but also it’s a big risk cause if Stokes breaks down again, that’s a lot of workload for only 2 seamers to do compared to if you took out Bashir or leach instead and has stokes as say a 4th seamer with Root taking up slightly more bowling duties than last test

England did have a strong limited overs side, the test side was in disarray. Here I feel all 3 sides are in disarray. The reason? Too much internal politics involving 2 of the 3 players who are dropped. It would be good to get the politics out and focus on cricket.
