England tour to South Africa December 2015/February 2016

Unbelievable depth England have got, given that Taylor and Bairstow can't get in after their performances on the weekend.

What a start from the boys. Should be able to get 400 if they keep wickets in hand for the final 10 overs.

My god ! Speechless. Brilliant batting by England.

Rain ruined a good game. Would have been close if we had gone to the end. Great innings by QDK, whatever butler can do he can match and out do.

9 an over, for 16 overs? One wicket away from your tail and de Kock struggling to run? I think England would have fancied their chances of seeing that out to be honest.....

You're kidding right? I don't think Morris, Morkel and Tahir were going to do the job somehow. 39 runs behind on DL tells the story.

Never said england wouldn't have fancied their chances.

SA would have felt they were well in with it as well. QDK had some cramps but it was hardly like the ones faf had in india, believe he would have been able to recover and get through the innings. Still behardien and morris for support. 9 an over on that pitch didn't seem beyond it in the last few overs imho.

Like I said ruined a good game of cricket. Will never know which way it would have gone. Will be interesting series. Expect it to be a high scoring one as well, never sides bowling looks like much while both units look good.

Morkel and tahir no. Morris is perfectly capable of playing a finishing role thought. He did score a 45 of 16 for the titans last friday so has been in good form with the bat.

It would have required QDK to bat through but I do believe that he could have gotten enough support from behardien and morris.

But we will never know so its rather moot point. Its what one believes or not believe the players would have been capable of.

South Africa's bowling is awful. England's isn't a lot better, but I think they could bring in Broad to help that a bit. I just can't believe SA don't pick 5 proper bowlers. Even when you pick 5, one will have a bad game. But when you pick 4 and one has a bad game, you're stuffed.

Tbf SA are missing/resting 4 of their first choice bowlers. Yesterday's game had none of rabada, abbot, philander nor steyn. The issue of the 5th bowler comes down to none of the all rounders being good enough as a number 7 batsman so they go with a makeshift 5th bowler. Its a choice between weakening the batting or the bowling, they believe the batting is more important.

Morkel and Tahir are definites so really you are only 2 bowlers down. Not all 4 of those could've played. In fact, Steyn and Rabada would be well ahead of Abott and Philander in my eyes. Especially in ODIs.

In a good pitch, 5 batsmen is more than enough. You need bowling. Nearly all ODI pitches are belters.

I think they should go with Morris at 7, and bring Rabada in for Berhadin, and drop JP as you dont need his bowling and go for Miller instead

Slightly strange batting order from 8-10 that England had yesterday. Is Jordan really better than Willey or Rashid?

Topley is probably the most hopeless batsman since Tuffers, but it doesn't really matter when you bat to 10.

You are forgetting one small problem with that change. You are down to 3 players of colour. So unless you can justify it to the ceo with an injury excuse that team will be rejected.

I don't morkel is absolutely guarantee, only tahir is.

Only 5 batsman is ok when setting a target, you need more when chasing as you need to take more risks.

I think you'd describe Rashid, Jordan and Willey as 'flexible'. I can understand Jordan above the other two, because he can biff it for 6 quite well, but then so can Willey, so him coming in below Rashid seemed a bit strange. But then if we ever get to the point of one of them needing to come in with 20 overs to go, you'd probably go for Rashid every time, as the better technical batsman. Six hitting is not really his game though.

Topley facing two balls and not getting a single for the 400 should see him dropped really though.... ;)

Actually isnt this where ALbie Morkel would be perfect at 7.
I find the quota thing stupid, although you could swindle it as Philanderr is injured
