Bangladesh have announced their 16-man squad for the Natwest Series that also includes Australia and hosts England.

Former captain Khaled Mahmud, who was dropped from the test squad, finds a place, and so does Nazmul Hossain and Manzarul Islam.

Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar stated that this is going to be his team's toughest test in international cricket.

Mission impossible for the tigers?

"We will be playing against the top two sides in the world, and with an inexperienced side. But we have nothing to lose, and we will try our best." said the right handed batsman.

Bangladesh who are currently playing the first of two test matches against England, take on the same opponents again in the first match at the Oval on June 16, before playing Australia two days later at Cardiff.

Bangladesh squad: Habibul Bashar (capt), Khaled Mashud, Khaled Mahmud, Tushar Imran, Nazmul Hossain, Manjural Islam, Mohammad Ashraful, Javed Omar, Rajin Saleh, Nafees Iqbal, Aftab Ahmad Chowdhury, Shahriar Nafees Ahmed, Mohammad Rafique, Enamul Haque (Junior), Mashrafe Mortaza, Tapash Baishya.

Australia announced their squad yesterday. The hosts, England are expected to name their team after the completion of the test series.

Its a bit silly to be putting a minow such as Bangladesh against 2 of the best teams in the world....Bangladesh will be slaughtered.

I think England and Australia will be having a contest of who can get the most runs or biggest win against Bangladesh...

Incase you are wondering why I am not posting any updates - its because my comprehensive examinations are on, and I do not any time to play the game. Whatever time I do get I spend it on the net and also on playing Total Club Manager.

England won by an innings and 289 runs
England lead npower test series 1-0, 1 match remaining.

David Gower: So England have thrashed Bangladesh in this test match and given them a nice lesson about test cricket, and something I am sure the Asian minnows will not forget for a long time. Completely outplayed from the very beginning, and never really showed any major resistance to England's all out attack.

Nasser Hussain: Well one of the most one sided games you will ever see in test cricket. Bangladesh are playing their first tour of England, and they are not finding it easy by any means. Superb performance from the home side, very dominating, and something that England needs if they want to match the mighty Aussies.

David Gower: Bangladesh were 170-7 when play started today, and soon they had Khaled Mashud, their last recognised batsman walking back to the pavillion, after being beaten by a superb James Anderson delivery. Simon Jones then picked up two wickets in two balls to wrap up the innings, and also leaving him on a hatrick chance.

David Gower: So Simon Jones and James Anderson pick four wickets each, and Jones end with 9 wickets in the match. Awesome stuff from Glamorgan paceman, who also is on a hattrick.

atleast bangladesh lasted 3 days
The match lasted 3 days and 110 minutes. Bangladesh were bowled out twice in less than five sessions.

But full credit to England, who have shown absolute no mercy, which is a good sign ahead of the Ashes.

Stars of the Match

Stars of the Match

Now lets have a look at the top performers of this match:

1. Michael Vaughan 265(350)
5bdx0g

The England captain made his higest test score in this match. A superb innings that lasted the better part of five sessions. He was involved in two major partnerships, one with Kevin Pieterson and another with Paul Collingwood.
Lords is surely one of Vaughan's favourite grounds.

2. Kevin Pieterson 113(145)
5bdxg3

Kevin Pieterson outscored Vaughan to reach 100 first, and became one of very few to score a century on debut at Lords. He played some really stylish shots and dint look anywhere near nervous.

3. Paul Collingwood 129*(192)
5bdyrq

Unbeaten on 129, as England decided to declare with the score at 661. Some lovely straight and cover drives were exhibited by the Durham allrounder during his innings.
Collingwood, like Pieterson is trying to cement his place in the England team. With both Pieterson and Collingwood doing well, old pros Thorpe and Butcher will both feel threatened.

4. Habibul Bashar 80(131) and 51(70)
5bdz80

Bashar was the only man who provided some sort of resistance to the England rampage. Bangladesh looked to have got off to decent starts in both innings, largely due to his contribution at the top. But the rest of the batting just couldnt stand in front of the England bowlers.

Simon Jones 5-52 and 4-43
5be2yu

Simon Jones bowled beautifully in this match. A good line and length throughout and troubled almost every Bangladesh batsman with his variation in pace and bounce. This performance will definately put him in pole position for playing third seamer in England's Ashes squad.

Gareth Batty 4-56
5be3dh

Gareth Batty did very well to pick up four wickets in the first innings, despite the pitch not being a great turner. However Batty did struggle with the length and often pitched the ball a bit too short and slow, hence being dispatched and punished by the likes of Habibul Bashar and Nafees Iqbal. So as far as spin is concerned, one would still prefer playing Giles to Batty though the latter has shown that with time he too can deliver. Batty can play the part of England's second spinner during the subcontinental tour in the winter.

James Anderson 4-56
5be3k4

Jimmy was pretty poor in the first innings when the likes of Javed Omar, Nafees Iqbal and Habibul Bashar played him with ease. However in the second innings, he showed a lot more control and consistency. As a result he was rewarded with four wickets, and pretty vital ones. Unfortunately, Simon Jones, with whom Jimmy is fighting for a place in the England Ashes squad, picked up a total of nine wickets in the match and bowled a lot better.

Great win there! Good practicing for the rest of the season! Still a very nice story overall...!!!
