David Gower: Welcome back. Its great to see the excitement around the ground, and we also have a record number of viewers watching this game on TV all around the world.

Lets now head to the middle for the coin toss.

Paul Allot: Thanks David. A very good evening to our viewers, and I have with me the two captains as well as the match referee and we are ready for the toss. So Michael if you could please tosss................Ricky Ponting has called heads...........and heads it is!

So Ricky what are you going to do?

Ricky Ponting: We are going bowl first. I think its a better option chasing in this kind of a game, because batting first you never know what score is enough to defend.

Paul Allot: And are you looking forward to Twenty20?

Ricky Ponting: Most certainly am. We played one against New Zealand and also one against the PCA Masters last week. Both of them were really enjoyable and I must say Twenty20 is a big hit with fans and players alike.

Paul Allot: Thanks Ricky.

And now onto Michael Vaughan, uh, Michael disappointed about losing the toss?

Michael Vaughan: Well yes to be honest. I also agree that while batting first you never know what score is going to be enough. You have eleven players and just twenty overs, so even scores above 200 can be chased. I mean its better to be playing with a set target in Twenty20.

Paul Allot: Well anyways all the best to you Michael.

Michael Vaughan: Thanks.

Paul Allot: So Australia have won the toss and have decided to field first.

Pakistan to play four Tests in England next year

Pakistan is scheduled to play four Tests and a triangular one-day series also involving Sri Lanka when they tour England next year between May and July. Pakistan last played a series of more than three Tests in 1992, which was incidentally against England, under the captaincy of Javed Miandad.

The team will also play a Twenty20 international against England on the long tour, according to a report in The News. The tour includes as many as eight side-matches against different counties. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in their home season next year will play seven Tests against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, a triangular one-day series and two Twenty20 Internationals.

A Pakistan board official is also quoted as saying that Pakistan was keen to play five Tests in England but since the itinerary was already fixed under the ICC's Future Tours Programme, they would play four Tests. Pakistan have a break at the moment, and then return to the action with a bang in October, with a home series against England from October 22, followed by an Indian tour in January and the Asia Cup in February. Before heading to England in May, Pakistan tour Sri Lanka for three Tests and three one-day internationals.

The official said that Pakistan had asked the ICC to clear the dates for the Asia Cup as it was not included in the Future Tours Programme cycle, and the final schedule is expected to be decided on at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in London later this month. Pakistan will be hosting the Asia Cup for the first time since the tournament was conceived in 1984. India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE and Oman have confirmed their participation in the tournament.

10 Over update - The Kev and Freddie Show

NatWest Twenty20 International
England vs Australia
The Rose Bowl

England 98-4 10 Overs
A. Flintoff 34*(25) A. Symonds 2-4
M. Vaughan 4*(5) J. Gillespie 2-34
K. Pieterson 44(26)

Nasser Hussain: Well England have done very well to get to 98 at the end of ten overs. But they have lost four wickets. So now they will have to be careful for the remaining ten overs. However at the same time England do have depth in batting, so a score of 200 is very much possible.

Darren Lehmann: Yeah it is, and England will be going for it surely. For Australia, Glen McGrath has been very expensive, conceding 50 runs in 4 overs. Jason Gillespie has been better with 4 overs, 34 runs and most importantly 2 wickets. But for England, really the stars of the show in these 10 overs were Kevin Pieterson and Andrew Flintoff. Flintoff is still there unbeaten on 34, and Australia will want to get rid off this lad as soon as possible.

Nasser Hussain: Well England dint get off to the best of starts losing Trescothick and Solanki early. But then Kevin Pieterson and Andrew Flintoff took the attack to the Australians are really entertained the capacity crowd here with some hard hitting shots. But Symonds then came in and dismissed Pieterson and also got the wicket of Strauss to bring Australia back into this match.

i think australia got a key wicket here of pitersen and now australia have slight advantage

Hogg shines as England are bowled out for 172

NatWest Twenty20 International
England vs Australia

The Rose Bowl

England 172 all out 20 Overs
A. Flintoff 51(44) B. Hogg 2-6
K. Pieterson 44(26) A. Symonds 2-21
G. Jones 24(15) M. Kasprowicz 2-26

Australia need 173 runs to win from 20 Overs at 8.65 rpo

David Gower: England were heading towards a score of around 150-155 before Geraint Jones cut loose in the second last over of Brett Lee and smashed four boundaries. Brad Hogg bowled brilliantly at the death for the Aussies, and really should have been introduced earlier into the attack.

Ian Botham: Yes I thought it was a costly mistake on the part of Ricky Ponting. Not only was introduced late into the attack, but he also wasnt able to complete a maximum of four overs.

David Gower: So England have scored 172 at the end of their twenty overs, setting the Aussies 173 runs to win. Join us in about 45 minutes time Australia's reply.

good score for england in the end, will australia struggle???

Match evenly poised after 10 overs

NatWest Twenty20 International
England vs Australia
The Rose Bowl

Australia 105-5 10 Overs
M. Hayden 53*(30) A. Flintoff 3-19
B. Hogg 0*(0) S. Jones 2-15
A. Gilchrist 20(10)

England 172 all out 20 Overs
A. Flintoff 51(44) B. Hogg 2-6
K. Pieterson 44(26) A. Symonds 2-21
G. Jones 24(15) M. Kasprowicz 2-26

Australia need 68 runs to win from 10 overs, with 5 wickets in hand
Current RR: 10.5, Reqd RR: 6.8

Bob Willis: Well Australia were cruising in this game when the openers Hayden, Gilchrist and then Ponting tore apart the England bowlers. But thanks to Andrew Flintoff and Simon Jones who have picked up five wickets between them since then, England are back in the game.

David Lyold: England dint have any answer to Hayden's aggression and he really went after the bowling, dint he?. Steve Harmison went for twenty five runs in his first and so far only over of the match. Darren Gough has gone for fourty five runs from three overs. But Flintoff and Jones have done beautifully and have definately kept England's hopes alive in this game.

Bob Willis: Yes Andrew Flintoff got rid off both Gilchrist and Ponting, and then later on picked up the wicket of Damien Martyn as well. However England have already used up his four overs. Simon Jones has bowled two overs, and picked up the two wickets of Symonds and Clarke. Incidentally, Symonds, Clarke and Martyn were out in identical manner, trying to pull, picking a top edge and finding the safe hands of Andrew Strauss.
