Match presentation
Bob Willis: Welcome to Rose Bowl, and to the match presentation. First, its my extreme honour to announce that our chief guest today here at the Rose Bowl is His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. And he will present the award to today's Man of the Match.
Now I would like to call upon Shane Warne, the captain of Hampshire.
Well that was some drubbing your team got.
Shane Warne: Yeah pretty much. I am really disappointed with the way we played today. After having them down to 15-3, we dint sustain the pressure and they fought back well and posted a good score. Our batting performance was shameful, and everyone really needs to look at this and try and analyze what went wrong and where, so that we can buckle up ahead of the next match against Worcestershire.
Bob Willis: Well good to see you not happy to lose any kind of game. Ladies and Gentlemen, a warm applause for Shane Warne.
And now to the England captain Michael Vaughan.
Well Michael, good comeback by Strauss and Flintoff and then your bowlers really never let Hampshire into the game.
Michael Vaughan: Yeah I thought Strauss and Flintoff played really well under pretty tough conditions. Jon Lewis and Chris Tremlett bowled beautifully in the morning, but we fought back well and put up a high score. Our bowlers then had to just to keep the line and length proper, and thats what they did, and did it very well.
Bob Willis: And what about Darren Gough. He is 33, and just cant stop taking wickets, can he?
Michael Vaughan: Well he is a class act and a very important player of this team. He has so much experience, and really is a role model for our younger bowlers. Also his variation in swing and pace, really makes him one of the better bowlers today and a very important player in this England team.
Bob Willis: Thanks Vaughanie, and Darren Gough is our Man of the Match for his fantastic figures of 5-12, and he will collect his reward from His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh.
A superb performance from the veteran England fast bowler.
Darren, getting older getting better?
Darren Gough: Well dont know about that. I surely dont feel as young I would a few years back. But I am really pleased with my recent performances, and hopefully I can continue doing the same in the upcoming matches.
Bob Wilis: And any thought of a comeback to test cricket?
Darren Gough: Not really. As I said I dont feel as young anymore and I do get tired a lot sooner than I would have 4-5 years back. And I think its better for me and for England to concentrate more on the one day internationals.
