india still in a tight position here. England are bowling well, but not well enough that they are on top. its still an evenly poised macth. another brilliant update
ENGLAND vs INDIA:NATWEST TRI-SERIES, 2ND ODI! NOTTINGHAM, TRENT BRIDGE 1ST INNINGS, END OF INNINGS UPDATE!
TENDULKAR AND DRAVID FRUSTRATE ENGLAND!
First it was Tendulkar and Sehwag who troubled the English now Tendulkar has found a new partner in Dravid who is good at sticking out at the wicket for long periods of time. These two have had a slightly slower haul than what we saw with Sachin and Sehwag. The ones and twos have been coming in but no threat so far at this stage of the innings, where runs are needed big time.
Were not sure were this innings is heading, the batsmen need to attack take some risk but it doesn't seem to be happening out there, they seem to content to bat through. But the problem is runs are needed and the position right now isn't good enough to be pushing for singles. Something needs to click in these last few overs for India if they want a chance of winning!
ENGLAND GET ANOTHER CRUCIAL WICKET!
When a wicket is needed it is given, England have got rid of Dravid who was trying to find some form and hitting his shots, but he hit one shot too many. Maybe he wasn't confident in his abilities to clear the rope, his confidence is down and he couldn't clear the infield despite having done it an over or two ago.
Dravid try to clear extra cover but the ball held up in the air and an easy catch was gifted to the England team, who were in desperate need of a wicket. However Tendulkar is still out there so anything could happen, and Indias destructive batsmen are still to come, so England have to take this wicket in their stride and hope to get a fair few more quickly!
TENDULKAR CARRIES INDIA DESPITE COLLAPSE!
Sachin Tendulkar as played a jem of a knock for India he has taken the game away from England and has given his bowlers a purpose. Wickets started tumbling like fat ladies down a hill for India but this man stayed out there for what is to be one of the great one day knocks. He held his ground and didn't lose concentration at all, and most importantly scored runs...FAST!
As we mention, wickets were falling like anything for India, batsmen came in hit a boundary then got out, the analysis will be interesting to look at, especially that manhatten graph, we'll see what that says because if it wasn't for Tendulkar we'd have some unhappy Indian fans. He's hit the ball everywhere showing great skill and cricketing mindset. We can't stress how important this knock has been for India, take 146 off this total and you can hand the game to England.
The little master has shown skill but now Indian bowlers need to do the same, a target of 245 has been set and it is defendable if the wicket plays up how were expecting it too. For now we'll leave you with some of the little masters wonderful stroke play, be rest assured you've wintnessed one of the greatest one day international knocks. We knew this match would be a belter and it's become just that in the last 15 overs when India were in great need of runs!
india have still reached a respectable total. england are gonna have to bat well india have a great bowling line up. once again another brilliant update kutgw
ENGLAND vs INDIA:NATWEST TRI-SERIES, 2ND ODI! NOTTINGHAM, TRENT BRIDGE 2ND INNINGS, 10 OVER UPDATE
SHAKEY START FOR ENGLAND!
England have not had the start they would have hoped for in this first match against India. The run rate has been in contrast to what the Indians were doing a couple of hours ago. Almost a carbon copy of the first innings has been re-created in the early overs of this match up.
Alistair Cook and Strauss have been slow, but Cook is showing signs of trying to excel, however he needs support as it's hard to carry an innings alone in an ODI match. That support was not to come from Andrew Strauss, the first ball he face, he was given out leg before wicket. It looked plumb and we think it was plumb. Lets take a look at what Hawkeye thinks!
(annimation wait for it to load).
INDIA GET ANOTHER QUICK WICKET!
Well it seems to be crumbling for England at this momen, they have lost the wicket of Ravi Bopara who hasn't be in great form, he has only scored ten runs in the series so far on decent batting tracks. We can say it's a good batting track because of how we saw Tendulkar bat on it, everything was getting hit. Bopara came in earlier than he would have hoped but this is a rising problem for England who bats number three, they need someone sharp and attacking.
Bopara got his chance when Shah was declared injured, it's the perfect oppertunity for Bopara and he hasn't taken it, he may well be out of the next match if Shah returns to full fitness, and the roumers are he's recovering well. Put Bopara's worries aside, England need to do something about losing these quick wickets, they've lose two now in quick sucession. If England lose one more it will be an up hill struggle and will put pressure to the middle order.
INDIA IN COMPLETE CONTROL!
Well, this could possibly be the worst ten overs possible for English cricket this summer. They have lost the biggest wicket in that line up, the wicket of Kevin Pietersen, the skipper. He was caught late onto a swinging ball and didn't manage to get any bat on it before the bat thundered into the pads. It seemed like a debatable lbw decision it always is when its swinging, and especially if it's swinging in.
Pietersen look unhappy, probably because now England are in deep trouble very early on, and that he was a bit unsure about the decision, the Indians seemed confident , lets take a look at the lbw decision, we think it was out but what does Hawkeye show us?
Fantastic animations Mohsin! :hpraise England are under pressure at the moment. Cook and Collingwood will have to bat conservatavly for a period of time.
ENGLAND vs INDIA:NATWEST TRI-SERIES, 2ND ODI! NOTTINGHAM, TRENT BRIDGE 2ND INNINGS, 30 OVER UPDATE
ENGLAND CONTINUE TO TOPPLE!
This match is getting tighter and tighter by the minute. England are attempting to build partnerships but they keep on breaking whenever one gets going. Flintoff and Collingwood have had the most sucessful partnership yet, restoring the England innings, until Flintoff failed and was a victem of Harbajans off spin which is so crucial in a ODI match up.
Alistair Cook went soon after the twentith over, he tried to hang in there but it didn't quite work out for him as he was bowled by a gem of a ball from Irfan Pathan who seems to be finding his form just before this crucial England series. Collingwoods last hope was Matt Prior, these two could have build a solid partnership but it wasnt to be as luck sided with India once again when Matt Prior played onto his stumps to be bowled cheaply and England were left in a rut!
COLLINGWOOD GIVING ENGLAND SOME HOPE!
This man has really kept England in the hunt for their second win in the Natwest Series. He's batted with composure and flair. He partnered with Flintoff nicley and the two of them got down to business scoring at a good old rate. But he had to adjust his game when Flintoff was dissmissed and he did so with great ease batting with Stuart Broad who is playing a good hand so far
Collingwood has shown us some good strokeplay which we can all admire and his tough knock has lifted English spirits and put that...that fight which we've been missing for such a long period of time back into the team. A good knock so far and he will be looking to continue it all the way to the end!
This is an incredible story!!! Shoe in for SOTM and I've been badly missing it since my internet went kaput. KUTFW Punk, the most entertaining story on here IMO by a mile!!!:happy:happy:happy
ENGLAND vs INDIA:NATWEST TRI-SERIES, 2ND ODI! NOTTINGHAM, TRENT BRIDGE 2ND INNINGS, 50 OVER CLIMAX UPDATE!
INDIA PICK COLLINGWOOD OFF!
The breakthrough that was much need has been taken, the wicket of Paul Collingwood the man who could have won this for England easily. The Indians set all types of fields and plans for him but he found gaps and was scoring with easy at one stage. However his downfall came due to some really good bowling by Harbajan Singh who has been exceptional in this match as he so often is for India in ODI's.
Now the pressure is really on the tail enders and their going to have to battle hard to ge the runs. The run rate isn't a problem however singles would do the trick thanks to a valiant knock by Collingwood who has set the tail up with a chance of winning, but only if they take it!
BROAD LOSES HIS WICKET!
Stuart Broad has been Englands last hope in really having a comfortable chance of winning this match, he's batted with great confidence and strenght showing that he works hard in the nets for situations just like this. The youngster hasn't let the pressure get to him although it's been a hard knock and the Indians have tried everything to get him out, when finally Sachin Tendulkar struck.
It was a fair decision we think, you'd see it get given at any time in the innings, some question about it going down leg-side as it did have a fair ammount of spin but replays show that it seemed to have held it's line even after spinning, and it is a tough ball to face for any tailender. Now it's down to the last wicket, but for now let's see the replay of Broad's wicket!
ENGLAND JUST HANGING ON!
Well we don't know what to say we've seen it all here, Panesar and Anderson a guiding England to victory but it's not been all fun and games. Especially for Panesar who would have had his heart in his mouth when he attempted to slog but misstimed it and this is when the "ooo's" and "ahhhh's" went flying around the ground...the moment when Rhaul Dravid dropped the catch in the outfield...a match winning or losing moment for either team.
The two guys will take any run that comes at them, some of it has been painful and heart stopping to watch, but if they keep their composure they can get through and win this nail biter of a match for England, or can they?
