Story England's 2010 Season: Eng v Ban, 1st Test

To be fair I had no way of making a squad announcement update seem like it would be an interesting read, so I thought having a real article would keep interest, and if I tried it out i'd see what reaction I got and by posting this hopefully you'll advise me for next time.

Anyway next update will be later or tomorrow.

England show off the test series trophy in Bangladesh

After a whitewashing down in Bangladesh, the tourists will be out to show what they're made of against the recently crowned Twenty20 World Champions. After a successful tournament in the Caribbean, the focus is now on the five day game and this 2 match series which is followed up by the Asia Cup for the Tigers, and a five match Natwest Series for England. Bangladesh have had a tough time this year, they were demolished by England at home in the 2 tests and 3 ODI's losing 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. The ICC World Twenty20 followed and Bangladesh were drew with Australia and 2009 winners Pakistan, they lost both games and were dumped out of the tournament.

England on the other hand have had a great year since their Ashes win, they toured South Africa and drew the 2 T20i series 1-1, the ODI series finished 2-1 to England after the 1st game was abandoned due to rain, the 4 match test series finished 1-1 and England were happy with that. A 2 match T20i series in Dubai with Pakistan followed after that and that finished 1-1. The tour of Bangladesh was a huge success with Alastair Cook as captain, and on to the famous trip to the Caribbean. England shown what they were made of, a seemingly easy group was made a lot harder by rain as the first match against the hosts ended in defeat, although the Duckworth Lewis was a cruel mistress in that one, the must win game against Ireland had a terrible start as England were 120/8 off their 20, but rain halted play with Ireland 14/1 off 3.3 overs and England were through. From there it was plain sailing for them, their Super 8's group had Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand who were all defeated. Sri Lanka were up in the Semi Finals and a win set up a final with Australia, that was won and England were champions.
Now England have a long summer in preparation for the Vodafone Ashes Series which starts in November.

Andrew Strauss and Shakib Al Hasan Pose With The NPower Test Series Trophy

Hello and welcome to live coverage of England's first NPower Test against Bangladesh here at the home of cricket. England will be going into the game with high spirits following the World Twenty20 win only 11 days ago.

We spoken to Ashes winner Graham Onions earlier on how he thinks this England team will do and on his disappointment on missing out on the team yet again.

"I am very disappointed after missing out again, I was injured for the winter tour and this time out i'm still not fully fit and unavailiable to play. Hopefully i'll have a good fight for my place with Tim Bresnan and Steven Finn. I want to be in the touring party for the Ashes trip in November, it'll be a dream come true for me to go to Australia and retain it. I'll need to put in my best for Durham and hope I get noticed again.

I think the team will fair well in this series against this opposition, they are a young team and haven't got the experiance against the big teams. They were whitewashed over in Bangladesh and England didn't have Strauss. This time around they are without Colly and Broady who were two important figures during the Ashes. Eoin Morgan will be one to watch in this test as he's predominantly a limited overs cricketer. Also I will be keeping a close eye on Steven Finn as he's a rival for me for the Ashes bowling spot, I hope to see him do well of course, but I want to do better."

Both captains are about to come onto the field for the toss and we have line ups already. Here is the England line up.

Can you actually make some form of contribution to the thread instead of just a simple sentence, even though one doesn't even have a full stop!

If you are gonna post something like that, just use the thanks button. It's these sort of posts which are driving this forum down in it's quality.

Well said Ollie, Sorry for lack of updates and due to last week of school next week I won't be updating for a while.
