Hoggard strikes but runs are coming easily

In the first 15 overs England were creating chances but things were not going their way . The ball was doing something off the pitch as the bowlers were fully utilizing the moisture from the pitch . Infact few chances went in favour of Australia as well. Hayden who was caught behind on 0 was lucky to survive as Billy Bowden ruled the decision in favour of the batsmen while Snickometer showed that there was a definite deflection. But still England bowers were causing some trouble for the Australian openers . Langer played and missed a few but another chance was created by Flintoff and this time it was Hayden again who was lucky to survive. The ball bounced a bit more than expected and it flew off the glove but it managed to fly between the slips and the gully region .

But then Langer and Hayden decided to go after the bowling of Flintoff. Flintoff was thrashed away for runs while both the batsmen were watchful while playing against Hoggard. Langer was going after the bowling of Flintoff and it he smashed him for two consecutive boundaries in an over and in the next over as well Flintoff was smashed for 9 runs. Hoggard was not enjoying this as he was bowling tightly from one end and there was no support from the other end as runs were coming easily for Australia from the other end.

Just when Australia were looking dangerous Hoggard got the vital wicket of Justin Langer at the right time and it was much needed for England at this stage to keep Australia on the backfoot and apply brakes at the scoring rate. Hoggard bowled a beautiful inswinger to Langer which was just back of the length and Langer went for the cover drive standing on the backfoot but the ball came back in sharply as a result of it Langer missed that one and the ball thrashed into the stumps . Hoggard picked up the first wicket of Ashes 2006-07 and Langer was dissappointed as he did all the hardwork and got a good start but he lost his wicket at the wrong time.

Langer scored 38 runs with 53 balls faced and smashed 8 boundaries . He was looking in good touch but now England has a chance to put some pressure on Australia.

Australia : 74/1 ( 20 overs)

J.Langer : b M.Hoggard 38 (53) 8 Fours

Its always Hoggard does the trick in bowling for England! Aussies still in comfortable position with more dangermen to come.

Wow pretty even at the moment allthough runs flowing.
Hoggy and England definatley need them runs, but maybe time for Monty :D

amazing presentation as usual Gamer, you have us all on the edges of our seat over the duration of this series :cheers

great work, gamer lets hope this leaves a gap for england to break through

And that's why Hoggy's my captain :D What a legend! C'mon Hoggy, get some more!!

Despite that wicket, Australia are well on top at the moment, it is vital for England that they get Punter early on. Then England have a chance of bowling out Australia relatively cheaply.

Hayden's looking ominous but Hoggy's bowling very well.
