Ponting gives Australia a commanding lead going into lunch
After the wicket of Gilchrist, Australia's lower order was exposed. But Australia were in a comfortable position having a big lead as a result of which Ponting decided to go for few shots. Ponting was utilizing each and every opportunity for scoring runs and the lead was increasing after every ball was bowled. Shane Warne was giving good support to his captain as was frustrating the bowlers by playing a nice little knock and building a partnership. England needed wickets at this stage but within no time Ponting reached his 150 runs and was playing a captain's knock at the Gabba.
Runs coming quickly for Australia
Andrew Flintoff was brought back in the bowling attack and it took just 2 balls for him to find a way through Warne's defense. Warne played an important little knock and developed a nice little partnership for the 7th wicket with R.Ponting. In the same over Ponting missed an inswinging yorker from Flintoff but the umpire turned that one down as the ball hit Ponting outside the line of the offstump. Still the lead is near 450 runs and it will be interesting to see if Australia declared just before lunch.
Warne's wicket
Warne departs
Ponting was playing brilliantly and he scoring at a good rate as well and was taking the lead close to 500 runs but the combo of Monty and Jones did the trick for England. Ponting just defended at a ball which pitched in the rough and spun sharply only managing to get an outside end but G.Jones made a superb diving effort to catch that one but the ball popped out after his hand touched the ground but he took the catch on the 2nd attempt. That was good reflex action from G.Jones but Ponting was not moving and even the umpires were not convinced if the catch was taken cleanly or not. G.Jones was sure that he took the catch neatly and England were totally convinced that they got Ponting this time. The 3rd umpire was called for and it was seen on the TV replays that the catch was neatly taken. Monty started his trademark celebrations as the decision was made by the 3rd umpire as he has 4 wickets to his name.
Fantastic innings comes to an end by a fantastic catch
Ponting departs
GoJo's effort
Australia have not declared yet as Brett Lee and Stuart Clark were unbeaten till lunch as Australia have a lead of 448 runs and still 2 wicket left. Looks like Australia are will not declare soon and are asking England to bowl them out which will add to more frustration if this 2 wickets will score some more runs.
What a splendid catch by Jones. Ponting played very well but that was an unfortunate way to go. No England have to dig into the tail now and prepare for some batting. Great works Gamer yet again. The animation and presentation is fantastic. Keep up the great works.
If the lead goes above 500 I think you can count out a England victory! Superb knock from Ponting ended by a great catch. Never seen the ball caught on second attempt before, some great AI play is coming out in this wonderful story
Well, Australia are favouraties to win this game. A funny catch there by GJo. A keep diving soo much off a spnners edge.. Anyways England should loose this one comfortable. Awesome knock form Pointing. Nice pres gamer.
great man just great the aussies are frustrating the english but panesar is being a workman and bowling well. Great animation and catch of Geraint Jones and overall this story for me is 10 out of 10!
